Beans
That is a very big NO.I removed the bolts from the rear deck/wing and front wing/nose joints and opened them up as much as possible.Did this to get the inside of the joints shotblasted and coated as well. These joints will be sealed after painting and after that I will close the joints with new bolts. The joint between b-pillar and sill will be treated to a good protective coating and maybe some seam sealant

StagNL
Theo, forgive my intrusion, but what was the method used to remove the paint and other gunk at this Giessen place? Also if you don't mind mentioning how the carcass was transported....I'm looking for something similar for my Stag to suffer in a years time or so and have no ideas of any place in my area (Goor, OV). StagNL
OK, thanks for that info - just what I'm looking for. How much cash should I have in reserve for this kind of thing?
Beans
Depends pretty much on size and condition of the car, for a estimate it's best to contact them for a quotation. Although they will only give a price when they have seen the stripped body. And it is not cheap! Edited August 20, 2021 by Beans
Beans
In preparation for the shotblasting of the body next week I fitted some threaded rivets to make fitting of the mudflaps easier ... Beans
Dropped of the body shell today to have it shot-blasted and coated/primered. And delivered the first batch of circa 40 items to a local coating firm to have them powder coated. And almost finished this piece of kit; Edited August 20, 2021 by Beans

And sorted the parts that needed coating, should also be ready by the middle of this month. Except for the body and the wheels the car will get very black 😎 Edited August 20, 2021 by Beans

Beans
Planned to pick up the body and the coated parts from Giessen yesterday. But as the weather forecast spelled a fair chance of rain I decided not to. So started on the wiring looms instead. Plan is to replace all connectors underneath the car with new ones. For this I am going to use the same connectors I used on the front of the car ... Edited August 20, 2021 by Beans
Beans
Picked up a few boxes with coated parts yesterday, which means that most of the parts that needed coating are ready now. A small selection ... As my holiday has just started I will busy myself with re-assembling and preparing as much parts as possible. So everything is ready for assembly when the body is finished.
