The Restoration of my DHC has started

Passed one of those in that same colour last week.
Looks pretty good in the flesh I have to admit 😎

We'll see, painting is sheduled for second half of next week ...

Over the last few weeks the seams underneath the car were filled in with sealant  ...



... the under body protection was sprayed on ...



... followed by a thin coat of spray filler, as a final base for the top coat.

Underside of the body is finished. Bottom and wheel arches are painted in a non metallic 2-pack uni-color bright green which comes close to the chosen Triton Green. Looks very bright indeed!



Also the primer for the top coat has been applied.



Painting will be postponed for another two weeks. Gives me some time for a color experiment

Have a colour sample of this colour alongside the Triton green sample at the moment.
Will go for Triton green, it's slightly darker and greener 😎
Also the metallic flakes in Triton green are finer giving a better overal look, i.m.h.o. that is.

Spent a good few hours on the dashboard assembly over the past few days.
Will use a very old LH dashboard (from ACG96L to be precise) as it looked in pretty good condition.





After a good clean and a re-spray with black (RAL 9005) Vinylkote it again looks like new.





And with various parts, like fresh air vents, cubby box lid and cover fitted ...





... it is ready for assembling when the car comes back from the painter.

Due to a small problem with my internet connection (modem blew itself up) this is all rather old news.

Loaded the body onto the trusty trailer ...



... for its last journey as a bare shell, to the paint shop this time.

But before we loaded the body onto the trailer, we first had to finish the paint preparations.
Which meant sealing the various seams inside the boot ...
