Restoration Project?

Hi, my first post here....

I live in Cyprus (lucky me) and have just restored a 1973 Mini (see attached)...

I wasn't really looking for another project but I have just come across this advert for four Heralds...

I have fond memories of a Triumph Herald many, many years ago and was quite excited at the prospect...

I must admit I'm being lazy and have not waded through the entire forum but how practical a project would this be...? What are the likely pitfalls and how available are parts? I have no problem getting bits for the Mini although postage to Cyprus cost me a fortune!

All information greatly appreciated!

The short answer is this: biggest "pitfall" is probably dealing properly with whatever rust you find. Other than that, there aren't many cars that are easier to restore than a Herald, given the design and generally excellent availability of parts!

Your Mini looks great; any chance of seeing pictures of (or perhaps a link to) the four Heralds for sale?

I am a total amateur, Herald is my first car resto. Parts are generally plentiful. The car is like a meccanno kit. This forum IMHO is probably the most helpful and friendliest.

Cost depends on how bad the starting product is and how much you can do yourself. I am using mine as a tool to learn new skills, i dont ever intend getting shot of it so I will live with any rough bits.
As you are on Cyprus you may find the body work is better than our rotten ones!

Good looking Mini.  Rock of Aphrodite in background?

Parts coverage is pretty good (especially mechanical) though not quite as comprehensive as Mini.  New parts are sometimes a bit rubbish though and more difficult to argue with suppliers at a distance. Between 4 Heralds you ought to have enough mechanical parts to be going on with.  Question is, do any of them have floors and chassis outriggers left?

Ironically I've bought some nice NOS parts from Cyprus via ebay so making the right contacts over there could prove fruitful.

Cheers

Nick

Thanks!

It rains a LOT here over a short winter period... the Mini was rotten and I had to replace the entire floor, toe board, heel board, etc. I guess it depends on how/where they have been stored...

Hi,

No, it is close to Aphrodite's rock but looking in the other direction... hence the picture attached to this one which is!

I'll contact the seller and ask about the condition of the cars...

OMG! What a find! I'd love that 13/60 Courier van combo. It looks like there's quite a few spare parts there, is all what I can see in the pictures yours? If so you are very lucky to have come into ownership of all these cars and parts.

No, not mine.... I spotted the advert and started thinking....

I know nothing about Heralds so I thought I would pop-in here and ask the experts....
