Toby G
Hi, Does any one know what correct 'silver'/'alloy' colour the steel wheels of a 1961 Triumph Herald should be stove enamelled? Thanks,Toby
herald948
Gee, no one else has responded? I'm surprised. If you can find something along the lines of a "warm" Argent/Silver, rather than an excessively bright silver, I think you'll be fine. When I got my latest Herald in 2002, it desperately needed to have the wheels repainted (biggest job I had to do on the car for the first year or so that I owned it, other than having the generator rebuilt). For sake of expediency, I grabbed the best paint I could find quickly at a local auto parts store: Dupli-Color Truck/Van/SUV silver paint in a big can (two of these big cans were more than enough for several coats on four wheels). I thought it was a pretty good match to some original wheels I have...and so did a former high-ranking Standard-Triumph USA employee, when he saw my car at a show a couple weeks after that! Again, this was six years ago, and in the US, so I don't know if Dupli-Color still sells that shade of silver or whether that brand of paint is available elsewhere.
