Rychu
Hi,I have just brought a set of carbs that I intend to send for a refurb. Can someone let me know the process of tuning them once fitted? Is it just a case of swapping the needles for the ones in the carbs I am using at the moment then setting the intake and mixture or is it more complex than that?TIARichard
yorkshire_spam
What type? SU Solex Stromberg Weber?Looking at your sig it says you have spitfire 1500 - so I guess twin SU hs4?Point 7 onwards here is probably a reasonable guide: http://www.mgexp.com/article/su-tune.html

piman
Hello Richard,. I'm assuming a standard engine, unmodified? I would expect the refurbisher to set up the mixture adjustment and the float levels to the standard setting. The first adjustment you need to do on refitting the carburettors is to balance the air flow either by using a bit of tubing in the intakes (before replacing the air cleaner) or using an instrument. The mixture is unlikely to need very much adjustment from the nominal setting. Ask your refurbisher for his suggestions could be useful?Alec
