Night Dimming Relay Wiring

Hi,
I am shortly going to be fitting the headlining to my restored Mk3 GT6 1971 as it has now recently returned from the paint shop. I am putting in the wiring at the rear for the interior light, rear lights etc and have a question regarding this Night Dimming thingy. This is probably a dim question anyway but I wish to bypass it and can see that I need to connect like for like but I am left with red and black wires. I assume these are power and earth. Where do they connect or are they not used anymore. I have searched the forum and cannot see an answer to this question. Regards, Ken.

Hello Xebec,

red is normally a feed to the side lights so would be the feed also to the relay so as when the lights are on, the relay energises and allows the dimming to work, black being earth as normal. If you are removing the relay just insulate the end of the red wire and tie it out of the way, same for the black or else probably you can remove that entirely?
