My 75 Toledo failed its MOT because the hazard warning lights do not work (not the only failure)
The indicators do not flash with ignition on or off when the switch is pulled and a replacement secondhand switch has failed to cure the problem. With the switch pulled the indicators will not work at all. Does anyone recognise these symptoms and suggest where the fault could lie. Also when did hazard warning lights become mandatory and if I remove the switch would it then pass an MOT? Thanks Steve

Just looked at the wiring diagram for a 1975 (should have done this first I guess!!). The hazards have their own flasher unit. This unit has probably failed but I cannot find it anywhere in the wiring above the pedals. Any ideas guys? Thanks Steve

it may well be the original relay in there, if so it could be screwed behind the dash, therefore not flapping about.

you'll get much easier access with the parcel shelf out, along with a decent torch, but it is there, trust me.

all standard dolos and tolos have separate flasher relays for hazards vs indicators.

your next port of call is the switch.  terminals get grubby and fail to conduct, so thats a dose of wd40 or similar followed by on-off-on-off-on-off vigorously for 10-15 secs. sometimes just a small bit of twisting will nail it.  dont get too harsh with it as if its the red push-pull switch you have, the plastic goes brittle and they can break fairly easily.

next - fusebox terminals, i.e. clean etc.

chances are one of those will be problem solved.
