willowwisp2
Are there any other front seats that will drop straight into the Herald without modifications?Ta.
garyf
Vitesse Seats?
RobPearce
My Vitesse has 2-door Toledo front seats. I don't think any modifications were needed but the seats have to be swapped over (passenger seat on driver's side &vv)
willowwisp2
Many thanks for the replies.Problem is I'm 6' 3" and having to stoop when seated to see traffic lights so could do with some seats that sit lower than the originals. thescrapman
Most non-Triumph seats will leave you higher rather than lower.CheersColin
willowwisp2
Looks like I'll be shaving some off the top of my head then! Rather that than lose the car!

willowwisp2
They look bloody marvellous Pete.I take it there not a straight swap so how did you manage it?Ta.
Nick Moore
Early MX5 seats fit, are lower than Herald seats and very comfortable. You'll have to drill some holes in the floorpan and use large washers on the underside, but that's all the modification needed.
Encom
willowwisp2 here are some MGF mounting brackets that I have used.
Dogsbody47uk
Also MGF seats in my 13/60. I'm 6 foot 4. No problem.
Billus99
If your car is a convertible, you will have problems with MGF seats going back far enough, they foul the deeper b posts. I'm in the process of fitting mx5 seats as we speak!
Casper
1. Are your seats on the lowest fitting? You might find a search on this and other forums may help you out.2. Separate, but related, is your steering column adjusted to suit you?C.
willowwisp2
Thanks all for the replies. Very informative.Going on what Billus states it looks like the early MX5's are the one's for me with mine being a convertible. On that note, any chance of a post on "How to" Billus?Casper - as far as I'm aware they're on the lowest setting. It's not the steering wheel position that's an issue, it's the fact I'm not sat low enough.Ta.
don cook1
If you send me your details I will forward to you (or anyone else for that matter) a 'word' doc that runs to several pages on how to fit MX5 seats to a Spitfire. I would imagine it wouldn't be too different to a Herald.doncook@hotmail.co.uk
Einar
MX5 seats. Scroll a bit down on this site and you'll see how I fitted them: http://vitesse.no/Garage%202008-2009.htmlTo me these are very comfortable, heated and with speakers in the headrests 8)

willowwisp2
Fantastic post Einar. Some great work on there and the seat conversion looks a doddle. Don - many thanks for your offer but I might as well stick with Einar's "how to" for now.Don't you just love these Forums? Absolute God send! Billus99
I haven't yet finished mine, but a m following similar route as suggested by einar, although I'm using flay ally bar instead. Experience with MGF seats tells me to use slightly larger holes than the bolts to allow a bit of "movement" before tightening up! Will post some pics once I've done. willowwisp2
Forgive the ignorance Billus, but what's "flay" or is it a typo?Cheers.
Nick Jones
I reckon he means "flat" as Y and T are adjacent on the keyboard.........Nick
Billus99
Yep, u got me there! Typing on iPad not quite so reliable...."Flat aluminium bar" is what I meant.
