Seats in our mk1 pi

Have finally had time to look at our pi project properly, give him a clean out and start to assess what we need to do...... lots! I think we will be in the market for one of every panel available at Stoneleigh!

One thing we hadn't originally taken in were the seats. They are a sort of material, possibly brushed nylon or similar, that I have not seen on a triumph before, and the seats themselves are very springy and most comfortable. Could these be original, some sort of after market purchase, from a mk2 or what?

The seats are light tan, would love to keep them, but they need recovering, and if they are not original, we would probably not bother.

Thanks for any info, Donald and Fiona.

Factory special order (N on teh chassi plate for Nylon), I have a set in blue, with  grey gaffer tape trimmings, and a blue travel rug accessorising the back seat.

Having despaired of Fred ever bending her Mk1 2000 so I could purloin the blue leather interior I have a set of black leather seats soaking in Hide food in the back bedroom.

Cheers

Colin

awful Vauxhall recaros in the front!!!

Tim,

The Vauxhall Recaros are pretty nasty.......they don't look right!

Get hold of a pair of Half leather recaros from a Rover 800 Vitesse (about £70 for a pair off fleaby) and throw those in. I put them in my PI (now Craig Bennett's White PI BWK14K from the 2006 RBRR) and they are wonderful, plus they look right too!

Thanks everyone, I will try to post some pictures this week.

Ours are exactly like Sorbs, thanks for the great picture of a very nice interior, but ours are obviously a different colour and very tatty, thanks a lot I think to a squirrel making a home in the car at some point!  :o

Also checked our chassis plate, and lo and behold there is a small capital N infront of the trim number.... so that is what it means.... easy when you know how....thankyou for that Mr Scrapman, think ours are beyond the gaffer tape though, probably even beyond a rug!

All means that we will try to keep the seats if we can, Mr Godfrey would you mind PM ing me the name of your Derby upholsterer, so we can see if these are worth saving, thankyou.

We found tons of baby oil on the leather seats helped soften them up, rightly or wrongly. We got a local chap (who also did the headlining) to releather the driver's seat. We'll do the others when we have the money (ha ha)

Never thought of BAby Oil, but then I don't have a baby....

and I don't have any other use for baby oil either....  ::)

If peanut oil comes from peanuts and vegetable oil comes from vegetables, where does baby oil come from?

I found some excellent leather cleaner in of all places Halfrauds - Simoniz LEather Care Cream - was only about £3 and it was outstanding  - seats felt great and so I used it on the cream (you can tell our kids are older) leather sofa in the house, really cleaned it well and it feels nice and supple. Like most of these products it seems to go on for ages, we hardly used any of the bottle.

The only thing I have ever used baby oil for is leather car seats. Stick any on a small baby and it's like trying to pick up a wriggling eel.

It's best not to ask, Jason, really!
