Last call for RBRR HDA Charity Money!
Steve28 replied to Tim Bancroft's topic in Round Britain Reliability Run (RBRR)
Any news on details to pay into the charity as we have our contributions awaiting to pay in. -
Every time i have done the RBRR i have taken 2 spare wheels due to just before the 1st one having a spate of punctures in normal day use, but having done this ive never had a puncture on the RBRR.
-
In 2016 we had a toughened windscreen so we took a spare laminated one with a crack down it on the back seat in a bin bag and although we didn't need to use it in the run we had to use it on the way back home 20 ish minutes and back in the road .

I haven't started yet on the 1500SE but will soon be giving it a look over to actually know what work is ahead for us , i know it needs some welding (actually quite a bit) and there is no engine and box in it but have a good engine to out in it and an overdrive gearbox, need to swap the boot lid and maybe a couple of doors and there's going to be more like brakes etc. -

I'm not sure that Jaynes cafe is big enough and i believe there is overnight parking for lorries there too Blyth is bigger and i think could be organised better if you could get permission to use the top end of the lorry park for the cars that go there to see the RBRR to park in. steve

Is blyth services definitely back for the first stop ? steve

I have sent in the paper sponsor forms along with a cheque as i know others have so will this get added to the just giving total ? steve
-
Our team has more on paper sponsor forms than on the just giving page as i'm sure others have too, so i'm looking forward to the the complete total when it all comes in.

Having read through these comments regarding the carrying of spares has got me thinking shouldn't crews be encouraged to carry more spares themselves then parts are there ready to fit as and when required without the waiting time for parts to get to you also saving time to be able to get to the next sign in without the risk of speeding to do so, i have seen in the past some crews carry as little as a few tools in a bag and more or less just plugs and points and be lucky enough to not have a breakdown, but from my own experience on my 1st RBRR i didnt have the parts i needed but managed to swap a gallon of oil for a replacement battery for my dead one and i also needed an alternator but couldn't get a reply from 3 numbers on the entrants list and had to retire so now always carry those two items every time plus many more. Another thought comes to mind not wanting to sound selfish what if you gave a part that you are carrying yourself to another crew but then needed it later on on the run for your own car ? . STEVE
