  1. Hi Jim, yes it would be really nice to meet up again. It's been such a long time. Obviously we have the same issues when crossing the pond, it has all become very expensive. The event is open for all classic cars and youngtimers, so we can't accept cars like a Mazda 2. Although we had similar cars at the start as a back up car for a non running or broke down classic. So you know what to do! Kind Regards, Roger
  2. Hi Jim, I think you are right, we should provide more info about the event. Back in the old days the forum worked great for us, as it was used a lot by many people. For now I can tell that the entree fee is only €35,- per team. It gives you coffee and vlaai at the start, a roadbook and a rallysign. Start and finish will be at Rolduc in Kerkrade, think most of us know that place. You can book a room there if you like. There are no further regulations to enter the event, all you need is a road legal car. The roadbook is set up on an easy level, so anyone can participate. We don't do complicated map reading or whatsoever, we use the tulip system for navigating. Think that's it. Now get your entry in Jim, we all know you want to do it!! Roger
  3. Hi all, I think I should log in more often to this forum. I had this idea of promoting our Nightrally again and now I see it has been already done! Thank you Mike, for bringing the event under attention. As stated by both Mike and Michael, the event is great fun if you fancy a nice 250km drive through the darkest parts of the most southern part of our country and Belgium. And no it's not flat, we have some proper hills over here! 😎 We used to have a big turnout from the UK, unfortunately not much has left of this. For obvious reasons as we all know expenses have increased a lot over the years. Anyway, this year the event will be held 28th of October, start and finish at Rolduc where you are able to book a room. So if you make it back in time, there should be plenty time for drinks at the bar! You can get your entry in by sending me a PM or sending an email to nachtrit2023@hccnet.nl Kind regards, Roger
  4. Shocked by the news that Paul has passed away, can't believe it. Such great memories, most been made whilst drinking beer and hanging out in a bar until closing time!! You will be missed Burnerboy, R.I.P.
  5. New site looking good, and most of all..... It's really quick!! Well done CT!
  6. 3 Things the CT forum needs: 1: Speed 2: Speed 3: Speed   This is really what me holds back from using the forum, the low speeds for uploading the pages. I'm no IT expert either, though I guess this has to do with the server now being used.  So find a faster server first! I would suggest separating the forum from the website and changing it to a more functional format with better futures. Have a look around, there are many forums that do work, all based on standard templates. I think the forum at the moment is a bit over designed and therefor slow and complicated.  Also change back to free posting for non club members. It will allow new people to join in and eventualy become a club member.  Would love to see the CT forum alive and kicking again. Keep on going, I'm sure you'll work it out. And last but not least, a big thank you to Keith for all the hard work he has done to make it all happen so far.
  7. Yes, Rolduc Kerkrade (Netherlands).  We are all staying there (and having a pint) as it's included in the entrance fee!
  8. Don't think you have to worry too much about the German enviromental zones,as far as I am aware of, the 10CR route will never cross one of these zones. The only exception is Augsburg, though you should be fine as long as you stay away from the city centre. So, be careful when booking accomodation in the Augsburg city centre.
  9. I'm posting this on behalf of Julian, as he's not able to open a new thread. Julian is now in charge for the Dutch March Nightrally, he also will be your contact if you would like to enter the event.  Please do come, I can tell it's a lot of fun exploring the eastern part of the Netherlands in the dark!  The 16th Nacht van het Oosten (Chinese) rally is being prepared as we speak.  The date is Saturday 16th March 2019.  Start and finish is the same as last year but the restaurant has a new name, Asian Spoon.  Details regarding the times and prices will follow shortly but for now those from last year, as in first post of this thread, can be seen as a guideline and probably won't be much different. The format will also be the same with a Tour class of tulips with additional controls for those who feel inclined to do a bit more than just tulips and a Sport class with map reading and other forms of route plotting.   During the closing of edition 2018 the organiser, Rutger aka Rallyman, had stated that he getting too busy with other projects and this one had to make way for others.  He put forward the suggestion that it could possibly picked up by someone else but there were no takers at the time.  Since then my good friend Joop (past participant) and myself have decided to keep the tradition going, or at least give it go anyway.  We will have some support for Rutger but the route itself will be generally our own doing.   Cheers and hopefully till March the 16th!  Julian Kuipers
  10. Hi all,   Just uploaded some pictures of this years edition of our "Nachtrit" nightrally. It was a great edition as the weather was nice to us. We had a total of 34 cars at the start, most of them being a Triumph. We also accept "other" classic and youngtimer cars these days, which shows a nice mixture of vehicles at the start. Think all participants were pleased with the route when they returned at Rolduc, so that makes us happy as well.  Next year we will organise the 31th edition, no doubt! hope to see you all again!
  11. Whoops.... I forgot zeee Germans! 😆   #1  Don Cook & John Talbot -  GT6 mk3 #2  Michael Charlton & Jane -  Spitfire mk3 "the blue lagoon" with red bits of the past, and still with the perky running gear #3  Wim de Pus & Frank Bosmans - Spitfire 1500 "The Fox"  #4  Brigitta & Bernd Ebert - Triumph TR6 #5  Jenny & Willy Mindak - Triumph 2000 mkII #6  Sharon & Wolfgang Spann - Reliant Scimitar GTE SE6A    So it's filling up nicely!
  12. Today was well spend checking the route and getting all the figures right. We very much enjoyed some of the small and twisty roads. Theo managed to get mud on top of the roof from his Land Rover! It will be fun for sure!
  13. Wow... already three proper CT entries, well done so far!    #1  Don Cook & Sarah Cook John Talbot -  GT6 mk3 #2  Michael Charlton & ?? -  Spitfire mk3 "the blue lagoon"  #3  Wim de Pus & Frank Bosmans - Spitfire 1500 "The Fox"  #4 ?????? #5 ?????? The route has been pretty much set up, it will include some of the most challenging roads available in Southern Netherlands and Belgium. Also we managed to find a "spaghetti" stop as a half way point, so it's business as usual !!
  14. Thank you Don for opening this thread. It's about time to bring the official announcement, so here we go!   This is our 30th (jubilee) edition of our famous Dutch/Belgium nightrally. If you like some proper driving on our narrow, twisty and dark roads in the Netherlands and Belgium, this is your event! The total distance will be around 250km and we navigate by the tulip system. The event will be dedicated to René Claessens who sadly passed away last year. He has been responsible for many previous editions of this event. Would be great to see many CT entrants as a tribute to René. If you are interested in this event, please PM with your email address and you will be added to the entrylist.  Start and finish will not be in Slenaken this year, we found another humble location, called Rolduc. So no worries if the bar stays open late I guess!!  Lets start a CT entry list, hope we get many from the UK.  #1  Don Cook & Sarah Cook -  GT6 mk3 #2  Michael Charlton & ?? -  Spitfire mk3 "the blue lagoon"  #3 ?????? #4 ?????? #5 ??????
  15. Yes, we have a first UK entry, thank you Michael en Gillian Helm for joining in!! As I also found a co-driver we now have 3 CT teams at the start. 😎
  16. Entries are filling up nicely this year, unfortunately no UK CT entrants so far....   Here's just a quick reminder to get your attention. The event is good fun and challenging so get your entry in!
  17. It's time to annouce the yet 15th edition of the famous Dutch "Chinese" rally, officialy known as the "Nacht van het Oosten" The organisation found a whole new area to play around with our cars, this time a bit more south, close to Arnhem. The route is 180km in total, split up in two stages, all presented in tulips, so make sure you have a accurate trip meter! There are two levels of difficulty, touring for those who are fine with tulips, and the more challenging sports class which will also present some regularity, map reading etc. Like in previous editions, there will be a healthy Chinese buffet before you take off. All details in short: When: Saturday 17th of March Where: Wok Masters Zevenaar (start and finish) Costs: Entree fee € 27,50 per car           Buffet € 20,- per person             (no payment at the start) If required I can help finding a hotel, close to start and finish location. Think that's it. If you are interested in entering, please send me a PM with all details (names, car and registration) and if you would like to do touring or sports. Kind regards, Roger
  18. Anyone has entered yet? Only a couple of weeks before the event now....
  19. Just read about the availability of "normal" petrol in Europe and it seems that E10 is becoming the standard in many countries. Although proper petrol is still available (RON 95 or higher) you have to be careful before you fill up. E10 is not suitable for our classic cars, it kills rubber hoses and seals! I've been told that especially in France it's difficult to find good quality petrol. So you have been warned, I'll take some fuel saver stuff with me.
  20. EFI conversion on full progress, getting there slowly but hopefully in time!
  21. Wishing Steve and Don a safe trip to the far east, looking forward seeing you on saturday.
  22. Don, relax, we all sort it out. 😀 There will be no translated roadbook, I will try and help you out with last instructions etc. As for the beer drinking, I hope the hotel will sort us out 😎
  23. Well done! Looking forward seeing you and Sarah in the GT6. Pulled mine out of the shed yesterday and seems to be running well, so fingers crossed! What do you mean by last minute instructions? For now or before the start of the rally?
