  1. I missed the email until saw this thread then found it! Hotels booked, all with free cancelation in case I change my mind! Just need to sort ferry, tunnel etc... And too look into the ULEZ zones. BTW we just upgraded our camper van to a low emission one (2011->2021 van) to get round this problem in the EU and the UK as its becoming more and more restrictive. Mike
  2. My 70'th birthday cake made by my daughter Libby, our Herald going down Stelvio! And the cake was excellent. Great birthday!
  3. good to see it out and about. mike
  4. one more chance.... I once had an GT6 that did not like me, 2diffs, 3 gearboxes and finally broke down in France with a seized diff at the top of a French mountain. Sold it as soon as it got it home.. we just did not get on! mike
  5. should add that thanks to the guys designing and maintaining the web site it is very useable on a phone. mike
  6. Start chrome and get to the CT forum, press the 3 dots at the top of the right hand side of the screen and then select "add to home screen" and you should have a link on the home screen direct to the forum.
  7. I have an android phone and have a link direct to the CT site on my home page. You can save a favourite from Chrome to the desktop so can be done. Cant run thru how to do it as I am doing this on a PC! Will have a look later and post some instructions. It Does make accessing CT so much easier on a phone. mike
  8. I have had the lower part of the door skins replaced on my Herald. I now want to rust proof the inside of the door before I put the door cards back on again. What do people recommend for this, good old Waxoyl or is there something better out there? Happy to spend money on protecting it. cheers mike
  9. 2018! Gosh doesnt time fly! Interesting cars, always liked the Tiger. I still have my Herald (not original now 1500 EFI) had a Dolly, STAG, GT6, TR6, Jag XK8 all have come and gone but still have the Herald! Just had some body work done on her to keep her looking nice. Is your original Vitesse still around? mike
  10. good luck with the car hunt, OD does make a big difference to a Triumph. BTW I thought you had a TR5 why do you want to change? Mike
  11. mintylamb.co.uk/gearspeed/ is great for looking at speeds and gear ratios. Might be worth having a chat with Tony LIndsey re gearboxes as he is scaling down and selling lots of his core stuff. He is on FB or I can give you his phone number. Ok I understand people have very different views about him but he has built a great gearbox and diff for me in the last couple of years. Mike
  12. Rob, really great to see you back on the forum! mike
  13. interesting discussion. My Golf GTE it has intelligent LED matrix headlights (IQ.Light) which mean it can shape and bend and modify the light pattern. It uses the forward camera to detect a car in front and then modifies the beam pattern so that the car in front is not illuminated but either side of the car is. And it will bend the beam around corners. Quite remarkable and works very well, makes driving at night almost a pleasure and one of the best bits of technology on the car! Not sure it could be retro fitted to a Triumph 😉 Mike
  14. Have I missed all the RBRR coverage, some on FB but I used to like the updates on the CT site in previous years. Am I missing something? cheers Mike
  15. decent condition disks, new ones are not expensive, and a set of Mintex M1144 pads and new brake fluid. Thats what I have on my Herald 1500 efi and the brakes are great, did the 10CR last years with no brake problems. Mike
  16. gosh not much metal left anywhere!
  17. I still have a Garmin satnav for sale if anyone interested 🙂 Garmin DriveSmart 6.95 Inch Sat Nav with Lifetime Map Updates for UK, Ireland and Full Europe, Digital Traffic and Built-In Wi-Fi, Black (Renewed) brought this for last years 10CR. is a refurbished unit cost £134 but would accept offers around £85.00. If I am honest didnt find it any better than my TomTom. Here is the original Amazon link. Garmin DriveSmart 6.95 Inch Sat Nav with Lifetime Map Updates for UK, Ireland and Full Europe, Digital Traffic and Built-In Wi-Fi, Black (Renewed) : Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo In Cambridge.
  18. just come back from a 2 week campervan holiday in the borders area. Beautiful area and fab roads and not much traffic. mike
  19. Oh... if they dont move then it puts strain thru the rest of the frame. Normally the fixing to the Stick break. If that been strengthened then the force will bend the rest of the frame. If its always been like that, and worked, then maybe other parts of the frame are taking the movement. It is a very complex and neat design. Good luck with the installation. mike
  20. really important to make sure that the hinges on the end of the front rail are not seized, they need to move as the hood is raised and lowered. If they are seized they will break.. Never fitted a mohair hood but it really helps to do the fitting on a nice sunny day or in a very warm garage so that it can be pulled tight. mike
  21. Good luck with the hood fitting. BTW where are you based? file below. regards mike STR Herald Roof fitting.pdf
  22. I have just fitted my new hood on my Herald. I have some spare plates that are used to clamp the webbing to the rails and rear panels if yours are missing. I also have a copy of the Triumph World article about fitting a new hood to a herald. I recently got it from someone on this forum but could send you a copy. BTW the original article is based on Anglian triumph fitting a new hood to my car, they were doing some restoration on my car at the time. That was in 2013 so I guess 10 years life for a hood isn't too bad! mike
  23. I had cloth ones in my Herald, replaced with leather and I prefer the cloth seats particularly in the hot weather. My 2 original cloth seats (tomb style) are available free to anyone who want them. Some damage on the drivers side. Free but have to be picked up from Histon outside Cambridge. Mike
