  1. Still have the head and cam. S
  2. If it was me I would measure the thickness of the 2 heads and the lift on the cam to get an idea of what I had. Is it going to be on carbs?. S
  3. Having a clearout of stuff I will never use, no idea of values but I will invite offers or advice on prices.I have: Spitfire head which has been ported and polished and has big valves fitted, it has the numbers 307871 and 515573 stamped on it. Skimmed to give a CR of 10:1. Never been on a engine Canleys 244R camshaft which is a Tony Lindsey Dean profile, never fitted to an engine. Believed for a large bearing block but not sure. Matching set of triple Webers bought from Racestorations 15 years ago but never used, believed to be jetted for a TR6 but cannot confirm. I also have a 3 piece manifold and a fixed one for a Saloon I believe. Pics available on request or Pm me on here. Steve

    NUTS

Beware some of the suspension kits I`ve seen, (and bought) the wishbone bolts are slightly too short so the nut never quite reaches the Nyloc bit. S
  5. Hello from the only Vitesse. Steve
  6. Booked the Lancaster Premier inn for the Friday and the Coatham Mundville Holiday Inn for the Sunday, just need to prep the Vitesse. Steve
  7. Info on another thread about modern (Belgian) Payen having the fire rings way too small and failing quickly. Canleys only sell good ones to the right spec. S
  8. After all you have put into her well worth it I think, was the buyer ok with that?. S
  9. Mike C or Chris will be along to confirm, I believe there are 40 entrants so far, more than ever I believe?. Always a few dropping out nearer the time so you may be OK ,there have been one person crews before. Steve
  10. Sad for the 79 year old worker, when I did the RBRR I thought i saw a Puddiphat. S
  11. I got 2 mint Herald doors from a scrapyard for my Vitesse rebuild in about 1989,plastered liberally inside with Waxoil everywhere including the chassis inside and out.Still mint today with no bubbling or anything. I think the formula may have changed as many people don`t rate it now. S
  12. MOT history shows the last test in 2021, possibly in Northern Ireland?. S
  13. My Vitesse has a 3:27 with a stronger carrier a la Mike Papworth. It also has a tuned 2.5 with a saloon box , j type OD and CV conversion. I think its a great combo as you can pootle if you wish but there is a ton of grunt on tap if you want it. I blatted it down the Staines bypass once with a Jag XF behind me, when we pulled up at the traffic lights he wound his window down and said to me "you must have a V8 in that". S
  14. My Vitesse got hit by a chap in a VW Touareg when I was behind him at a roundabout waiting to go, he decided he was in the wrong lane and started to reverse, straight into my newly painted bonnet. Couldn`t see me but paid up straight away. On the subject of DRL,I went from Surrey to Beaulieu today in heavy rain all the way, you would be amazed at how many vehicles had no lights on at all. Clowns. I find driving standards now appalling, Make it a 4 lane motorway?, great we`ll all sit in lane 3. S

    Power upgrade

My thoughts as the owner of a tuned 2.5 Vitesse... What do you want from the car?, summer road use/trackdays/touring?. A 2.5 is good but lower revving than the 2 litre, and to get it to 7.5K would need a good few £££. Then there is the drivetrain, gearbox with or without Overdrive and diff. A well sorted MKII 2 litre is a nice drive with around 98? bhp i think as standard. You could up that with a better exhaust, maybe a bit of head work and a cam change, depends what you want from it. I wouldn`t go back to a 2 litre on mine but that`s personal choice and i still have the original engine. I like the low down torque and relaxed cruising of mine with a Saloon OD box, 3:27 diff and CV shaft conversion. The engine made 172bhp when built 10 years ago on HS6 carbs. Steve
  16. I have a 2.5 Vitesse tuned to 170BHP running 10:1 compression, also a saloon OD box but with the modified Vitesse flywheel. I use a Powerlite starter, I ran a new heavy cable from the battery to the starter and made sure it had a good earth, it whizzes over really well. I used the original spacer as it won`t disengage without it. Steve
  17. One on e bay at present, not cheap though! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/276130611881 Steve
  18. I have asked Chris to include myself and Kath in my Vitesse. S
  19. I would be interested to find out more about the night time glasses. Having attempted the RBRR in 2012 with the late Bill Goodwin (dnf-driveshaft snapped at Lands End). And completed it in 2014 in my Herald. Having had 2 Cataract lens replacements in 2020, night driving is an issue for me as the new lenses create a Halo effect on white light coming towards you. It`s bad in a modern with the massive SUV`s with blinding lights but in my Herald or Vitesse worse. Steve
  20. I rebuilt my 13/60 front suspension recently and used Canleys trunnionless uprights with 4 pot calipers from BCC, also a Vitesse master cylinder.Breaking is greatly improved. Steve
  21. Rimmers list the repro ones at £155 EACH. new, seems expensive but I guess the original Dunlop LP923`s are quite rare now, I have a set on my Herald, purchased from Clive ironically , I didn`t even know they were being reproduced. Steve
  22. Nice to see us in my Vitesse at the OST on the 2015 run, hope to be back next year. S
  23. Was going to try and fit a Newtons under dash millboard I`ve had in my shed for a couple of years, my Vitesse doesn`t have one, guess what, I have lost the black popper things that hold it on, job postponed until I buy some more and then find the original ones.. S EDIT:Just found them on the floor of the shed behind a pile of wood. Yay.
