  1. For future ref here's a site that I find useful for checking where the fault lies - https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/
  2. Well, I turned in there to fill up because the large sign stated the price as £1.297/litre but when I looked at the price shown on the pump as I was filling with E5 it was costing me £1.337p/litre!!!!!!!!!!
  3. E10 was in pumps at Tesco, Stoke on Trent, on our way to Border Raiders, on 30th July but I realised in time and used the E5 pump! I filled my daily driver (Skoda, new in 2016) at Morrisons, Milton Keynes, last week on the first row of pumps where it was E10 only. However I noticed that the centre row had pumps for both E5 and E10. We need to make sure before starting to fill our beloved classics!
  4. I've recently replaced the driver's side door aperture seal on my Vitesse MkI Saloon. I purchasd it from Canley's and it was very easy to fit - took me about an hour to stripoff the old one, fit the new one and adjust the door to shut.
  5. Thanks to Mikeyb & Glang for providing me with just the info I needed!
  6. I have recently got my Vitesse reversing light working reliably and want to keep the original style fitting. However realising that the 10watt bulb was rather dim, I've changed it for a 21watt which obviously is a bit brighter. This got me thinking. Is there a suitable negative earth LED available which would fit the existing bulb holder and provide an even brighter light? I've had a look at a few suppliers' websites but am now rather baffled! Can anyone give me a definite reference number(s) for a suitable LED(s) with the correct opposite pin fitting.
  7. I recently posted a message about a similar problem with my Vitesse MkI which might just be relevant in which I said: "This week the gearbox was removed from the car once again and this time the mechanic also removed the engine flywheel to discover that there was no crank spigot bush (and it seemed that one had never been fitted!) thus allowing the splined gearbox shaft to wriggle around in the front oil seal.
  8. Yes Bruce, that was us. The exhaust strap finally parted company on our way home after 120 miles. We managed to persuade a chap at a small workshop to wire it up and it lasted the remaining 150miles! Cheers, Pete
  9. A gearbox tale! My Vitesse has leaked oil from the gearbox for some time but recently it got considerably worse. So, prior to the Border Raiders, I had the front & rear gearbox seals renewed. Despite that, during the event, several people commented that the car was depositing a small pool of oil so I realised all was still not well. This week the gearbox was removed from the car once again and this time the mechanic also removed the engine flywheel to discover that there was no crank spigot bush (and it seemed that one had never been fitted!) thus allowing the splined gearbox shaft to wriggle around in the front oil seal. My records show that a previous owner had the engine rebuilt in 1992 and added the overdrive box in 1998. Since those dates the car has done approx 31,000 and 26,000 miles respectively. It seems amazing to me that the gearbox has lasted - fortunately I get the oil level checked regularly. All now seems to be ok.
  10. Like glang I use Millers VSPe even though I have been told that there is no need, so it is mainly for peace of mind. However I note that the label on the bottle states that it is effective against ethanol up to E10 but I certainly don't intend filling my Vitesse with such petrol!
  11. I agree. Prices need to be quoted in US dollars but I got the impression that it is an Australian based site!
