  1. Hi Mike - I have emailed you - I have an 'S' estate auto that might suit
  2. Hi there, full list of all the stops and times in the current issue of Club Torque
  3. Well as you can see in the above thread there are still quite a few folk who have no inclination to use social media who would still like to get the information via the Club's Official site, and the very fact that you read the post in the first place would indicate that you are using the site as well!
  4. I am in agreement with much of what has been written here, the postponement of the RBRR should have been posted on the CT website for ALL club members to be informed about regardless of wether they are actually taking part. The RBRR and 10CR are part of the DNA of Club Triumph and any news should come via the official voice of the Club which surely is the Club's own website regardless of what people think about the 'usability' of the current site.  It seems there are plenty of people in the club (of which I am one) who have no intention of ever using Facebook so please don't stop using the Club Website to communicate important information. Thanks
  5. S.Tate entered  Looking forward to it.
  6. A word of warning to entrants travelling through France:  I recently come back from two weeks in French Alps, and yesterday got a speeding ticket sent to my home address for exceeding the limit by 5 km/h - 75 km/h in a 70 km/h zone. This was on a quiet rural A/B road which I think used to be 80 km/h. I cannot remember seeing a speed camera but do vaguely remember seeing an unmarked blue van parked in an entrance to a field at the side of the road. I do not make a habit of exceeding the speed limit (especially in France) as I was in a fully loaded 15 year old Discovery, but either I did not realise it was a 70 limit or my eyes were enjoying the scenery & road and I was not paying enough attention to the speedometer.  It appears there is little or no discretion applied to exceeding the limits by even the smallest amount in France so be careful and get your navigator to keep an eye on the speedometer on the SAT NAV rather than rely on your Triumph's dial which are often 10% out which is certainly the case on the Triumph I will be using on the 10CR next month!
  7. Aside from all the every obvious safety reasons for having an valid MoT which are outlined above, I have been stopped in Switzerland on a previous 10CR and aside from the usual passport checks they spent some time inspecting the car's paperwork (V5, Insurance docs and the MoT) and we were glad to have the full gamut of paperwork for the car, as I would have imagined we might well have been there for quite some time trying to explain that we don't need an MoT. The other thing that is of concern to me is that if you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an incident (in the UK or Europe) and you don't have (or need) an MoT and YOU have missed something and your car is technically unsafe how will your insurer react to this? Would you be be personally be liable? Who knows but I don't intend to find out!
  8. I have not had an email from Nigel either - so will fill in form on the day.
  9. Hi David thanks for your reply, I found the page of all the entrants on a previous attempt! But no 'enter button' see below - Maybe the autosolo is only open to non-mac users! Or alternatively I am being decidedly thick...
  10. I am guessing I am being particularly thick.... How exactly do you enter? spent the last 10 minutes looking for an 'enter now' button on the various autosolo threads?

  13. I am running Falken 195/70/15 on my 2500S estate auto. Being an auto the extra rolling diameter (+14mm) does reduce the revs for motorway cruising compared to the 185s (which I had previously) the additional 7mm side wall height has not affected the handling (and grip is probably better on the 195s) and if any thing the ride is slightly improved.  When the time comes to replace I will be keeping with the 195 and probably the Falkens to as they are wearing well and are particularly good in the wet.
  14. Having read the above comments it seems there are plenty of options out there.... BUT It would be worth bearing in mind unless you are willing to offer your time (like Chris above) in the MASSIVE amount of work done by the 3 man 10 CR organising team (many less than the RBRR) surely it is down to the 10CR organisers to design the event as they see fit? Judging by the ever increasing entry they seem to keep getting the formula right as the 10 CR is always a popular event. With regards to daily check points this is a logistical nightmare - getting everyone together for a restart - even on day 1 this year despite instruction that you must arrive by 8am there were crews turning up after the cut off time and some crews did not turn up at all. This then means the organising team is also late in getting away on the event - which lets remember is also their event to enjoy also. The ethos of the event has always been that you make it what you want - leaving it up to you to cut the route if you wish, the same can be said if you want to convoy with others you can always put a post out there on the forum to see if others want to join you. The same applies to meeting up with other crews in the evening - put a post on the forum and arrange to meet other in the area you are staying with.  In my experience Club Triumph folk are a friendly lot and unlikely to turn you away!  And if you want to drive through the night - DO IT!! find some like minded folk and arrange it between yourselves. This was my 4th 10CR and I enjoyed it every bit as much as my first and I am already looking forward to the 2019 event.
  15. Please can "Havea Potatoman"  email me a few -on say 4 or 5 of the best pics from the ones  you uploaded to the shared site so I can use them in the next issue of CT - i need the original high res pictures that will be big enough to use in the magazine. 16. Hi Jon - entry will be in the post this evening, first run out for the TR7 V8 auto! Looking forward to it - always one the highlights of the CT calendar.
  17. Hi Jon - thanks to you and all your team for another entertaining rally. Please can you post the final results so we can see how badly we went wrong! Many thanks Charlie
  18. Hi Jon - entry in the post for Matt & I in the S.Tate (or possibly my TR7 V8 DHC auto if it is ready in time!). Good to have a rally away from the SE. which will be nice and local for Matt. Looking forward to it! Charlie
  19. Entry for Ellis and I in the 2500S Estate today, another should be on it's way from the Matts in the Zombie Looking forward to it Jon!
  20. Thanks for all your hard work on the getting this new 12 car Rally off the ground - it must have taken hours to get all that done!! Yes it was probably the hardest rally I have taken part in so far and it was good to see some really constructive feed back from everyone who took part. It was great to see a full 12 car entry also with a few new faces too. Unless I have missed something please can you post the overall results on the thread with number of fails. Once again many thanks Jon and I look forward to the Warwick Scatter - always a great event. Charlie
  21. Hi Jon - Should be there either in the Zombie with Matt or hopefully as a separate entry in the 2500S Estate with Ellis Charlie
  22. Thanks Mike and team for all your effort and time in making it such a great event, Ellis and I really enjoyed the driving and navigation. It was a real shock for us NL folk to come and steal the trophy away from under the noses of Essex lads on their home turf! Mike will you be doing a report for the next issue of the mag? Thanks again Charlie & Ellis
  23. The 2500S Estate of team 37 arrived back in Blighty 6.20am this morning safe and sound on the back of an arctic transporter - a week earlier than promised (he also said he was carrying a Spitfire & Hurricane - although I cant confirm as it was a covered trailer plus it was dark!) . Cant really fault the service from AA 5Star cover as long as you are realistic in your expectations / limitations of speed of getting stuff sorted. £114 for the one off trip cover was money very well spent in my case as they covered a hire car from Austria which we could take all the way back to Calais, taxi fares to the hire car depot, ferry crossing from Calais, plus a hire car from Calais back to Potters Bar. Ok so it took 9 hours from the moment we broke down to getting in the hire car but this was mainly due to the time we broke down (4.30am) and the distance from the garage we were left at to the nearest hire car depot (45mins).
  24. Team 37 ('78 2500S Estate Auto) retired in the early hours of Friday morning in Austria due to smoke pouring out of front right wheel. Suspected servo failure causing brakes to bind when engine running. Fortunately we were travelling in convoy and Dale who was directly behind us being radioed through that he could smell burning brakes, we pulled over at the next service station to be greeted with clouds of smoke. We could not see the smoke as it was pitch black when we were running (or smell because the windows were shut and the outside ventilation in the off position). 9 hours later we were on our way in a hire car to Cortina - the car should be back in blightly in 3 weeks.
