Hi Dan I'd be wary about using a coating on the inside of the tank. If the prepared surface isn't perfect the coating can peel off and block the outlet - ask me how I know! The problem is that inspecting the inside of the tank prior to application is tricky to say the least and you never know if it's good enough. Obviously I don't know your budget but I'd be considering a new or at least good second hand tank instead. New won't be cheap but Stoneleigh is less than 2 weeks away and you might find a decent one there for less. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

I am selling my mk2 2000 Rusty Custard - 1971 saloon, originally a 2000 auto, now 2500 mod. I have owned the car for just under 2 years, bought as a stop gap while my mk1 was having repairs it is now time to sell it on. This is a well known club car, been owned by a variety of CT members and has done several RBRRs - including the last two. Also completed the 2022 10CR, last year's HCR, the 2022 C2C and a fair few 12 car rallies and run outs. Recent work carried out - replacement 3.7 diff fitted, gearbox mount replaced, both track control arms, track rod ends and drag strut bushes. As a result the car now has a full year's MOT. 123 distributor, MG ZT front seats, TR6 wheels fitted and a very comprehensive history file. £4500 ono, the car is located in Worcester.

Today Tim Ward and myself (mainly Tim) fitted one of Dylan Day's throttle brackets to the mk1. This takes the place of the linkage where the cable attaches. They're very well made, throttle response is instant and the car feels fantastic 🙂 Dylan still has a few left. His number is 07583590581 and they're available for £60 + postage. I'm not involved at all apart from being a happy customer, and I said that I'd mention it on here as Dylan isn't a CT member. When the mk1 went from auto to Manuel, I made one myself from hardboard covered with black vinyl cloth. I wouldn't claim it to be perfect but it's good enough for me.

The Team Spotlight cars show up nicely in front of Sam too 🙂

You'll be fine John. your car looks lovely and you've obviously done a lot of prep work on it. You should be ok 3 up, I've only ever done it as a crew of 2 (4 times so far) and that is tough at times, but those who know say that a crew of 3 is much more relaxed!

John O'Groats was slower than usual last time because of social distancing.
