  1. Its a TV show , I watch this show lots, its sits in the background when i am on the PC. I saw this one, entertaining, just to see a spit. I think the bonnet could have been panel beaten, the chassis repair as the easiest given it had been in a bump and the old bit already missing. Anyway like most triumphs they did what they needed to make it fit , which if we are honest is what they did at the factory if lucky.
  2. Found an option here if you are interested Classic Driving Development | Engineering Improvement to Classic Cars | Triumph MG TVR Morgan Triumph -TR4 TR5 TR6 TR7 Triumph Stag / Innsbruck TVR M series MGC
  3. Interested in this . I use my 7 as a daily drive so been upgrading various things , vented front discs with 4 pot calipers,EFI , LED headlights etc. Steering is fine on the 7 fitted roller bearing on the top but still heavy when manoeuvring out the garage. Keep us posted on what you have done .
  4. That would work if all four ports were sucking at the same time but only one is sucking. Although no expert on this either.
  5. Mine is rotten as a pear look up stag rescue.....
  6. At present cold weather has stopped play. The car is in an unheated garage so I only tend to go in in warmer months as its a hobby not punishment. I have also been tinkering with my TR7 and doing some decorating in the house. I think the description of dilapidated is not a bad one to be fair. I usually underestimate how much work is needed.
  7. Anyone got a stag passenger door for sale/spare. I am in Worcestershire.
  8. I like the rally spoiler on the front, toyed with getting one on mine
  9. is that the correct one for spin on conversion?
  10. Anyone know where Spitfire HEC381N . Gov UK says last V5 issued in 2019. I have a colleague who used to own it and they are interested in what became of it.
  11. Spin on conversion. The oil is a better quality one as well. The blue print filters are just coming on the market I imagine they come from the far east.
  12. Fitted an oil Pressure gauge changed the oil to Valvoline 20/50 also swapped the oil filter from the blue print one to a borg and beck (both from Rob Sport.) The oil pressure now is not slow to build light goes out quickly the gauge showing 40 when cold idle about 30 when warm. Maybe the cheaper oil, maybe the change of oil filter who knows!
  13. Hi anyone have any ideas for low oil pressure build up on a TR7 engine. The engine has just been rebuilt with +10 bearing +20 pistons. I had slow build up of oil pressure so opted for a new oil pump, and its still no good. I am using a cheaper oil at the moment for running in a 20/50 mineral oil from Opie oils. I have some valvoline 20/50 Valvoline All-Climate 20w-50 High Quality Engine Oil (opieoils.co.uk) to go in at next change. The old engine was better although it was well worn on the cylinder bores. I am thinking the Jackshaft was probably worn the bearings which will mean line bore and some shells inserted. I have removed the water pump and replaced with an electric one. The Dizzy only drives the oil pump now although it does provide a cam signal for the ecu. Any other thoughts/quick fixes before I engage in more engine surgery
  14. I have the timing at 22 BTDC for idle it just dies, it will restart with some revs but dies when lifting off the accelerator.
  15. It looks quite a thick wire ? If so it would be for a higher current circuit. Like Amy said heated window? The TR7 one is black and white iirc. No idea why it isn't in the cabin though. Fuel Pump perhaps?
  16. It's early days yet on it so still fiddling. Would you suggest more advance low down I am 10 btdc for idle on stock specs but a long way from that now in set up. Would you alter the idle from 850 as I have read some fast road cams like a bit faster idle
  17. Engine seems to be back together not leaking. Its also starts so win. I fitted a Kent Cams TR7 fast road cam Search results for “DM1” - Kent Cams just wanted to know if anyone else has fitted one and what there experience at idle is. Mine is quite lumpy just wondering if its down to running in or the adjusted timing.

Got this done one all 4 plug holes.

    Power upgrade

I wouldn't bother spending in a rolling road unless u have money to burn. I can't imagine many of them know how to balance twin carbs. I would buy a simple carb balancer and an exhaust sensor or a carbtune plug. You can use them again and again

The mileage is low but engine is old and these engines weren't designed with long life in mind the car would usually rot away anyway. Have a look at the engine and do a compression test. Cheap and easy to do. Check the numbers across all cylinders. A low figure may indicate a stuck valve or piston ring wear. I had a 1300 engine with broken piston rings . If you wanted a saloon engine should have brought a saloon they are a lot less pretty though. An engine swap has its own pitfalls... what's the history of the new engine will it bring problems with the transmission as above. All that money could just be spent of getting a well sorted vitesse engine. It all sounds like it needs a good going over. At least it's not body work.

Thanks for the replies. I think for ease I will take the head off. I can properly assess the other spark plug holes. The problem with the TR7 head is it Aluminium and quite soft. How I miss a herald cylinder head. I also was a bit unsure on the exhaust mounting holes one seemed a bit iffy. My old head had all the exhaust holes helocoiled before I had it so perhaps common.

I think I sort of know the answer here.... I am swapping my TR7 engine, I have had an ebay purchase of a cheap engine. Stripped it had it bored, +20 piston +10 crank regrind, the crank balanced top of block skimmed, flywheel skimmed and balanced. On the head head had it skimmed fitted fast road cam, new valve springs. Swapped the engine over , turned it over on the starter, no oil pressure. Whipped off the dizzy (for those who know my TR7 its for a secondary cam signal and doesn't do spark stuff), spun the oil pump with drill and oil pressure came back. Refitted dizzy crank and we have oil pressure. So on to refitting bits... on to the spark plugs fit wind them in my by hand as per usual. 1 2 and 4 tighten nicely, number 3... oh no its stripped, never noticed on the rebuild. Well it doesn't matter too much as i have a spare head on the old engine although the springs are weak and has the standard cam. So I now have to helicoil the aluminium plug hole, its a little annoying as the engine hasnt started yet. So the question.... can i get away with reusing the head gasket? I have only filled the engine with oil no water as yet and it hasnt started.
  24. Looks lovely. I miss my Herald, had the most comments when driving my Herald vs Spitfire and TR7. The TR7 does attract comments from gents of a certain age though. Looks great work ....
