    TR2

Hi Phil If you haven't tried it already I suggest you look at the TR Register forum. They have a topic called TRs reunited, you might have better luck tracing the car with them. Dave
  2. Hi Mark We could easily collect the driveshafts from Dave H and bring them with us to the dinner next week and give them to Darren for onward transport. I'll send tou a pm with my contact details. Dave B
  3. I've just remembered that when we did the HERO Scottish Malts Rally last year amongst the foreign cars was a Mercedes 450SL running on US plates, so it can be done.
  4. Hi, If I understand correctly you want insurance whilst your car is temporarily in the UK, and also when you take part in the 2026 10CR on the continent. It might be worth contacting the TR Register insurance (https://www.tr-register.co.uk/insurance) as your car is a modified TR4. I realise it's different but they have been helpful to me using our rally TR4 on competitive events on the continent. Dave
  5. Hi Dan Like Richard I would be very wary of any coating for the inside of tanks, again this is a learned experience. I costed up getting the tank professionally cleaned and leak tested, it wasn't worth it. the cost was similar to buying a new one Dave
  6. As do mine picked up from a stall at an agricultural market, and they are much used. Dave
  7. + 1 This happened to me on the last 10CR, I had a spare refurbished Lucas PI fuel pump in my boot and was able to give it to replace one which had stopped working, in Kempten and they then completed the run. In return I got a refurbished one sent back to me.
  8. I thought that this post from the TR register forum yesterday about the triumph speed championship 2024 might be of interest to users of this forum. The championship includes sprint events and hillclimbs, and has a good geographical spread including Wales and Scotland. You'll see that they're including 'cars with any sort of Triumph pedigree'. Dave For anyone interested in having a go with the TR Register Championship this season the regulations and entry forms are now available on the TR Register website (https://www.tr-register.co.uk/motorsport). There is also a getting started guide giving advice on safety equipment, car preparation and the format of events. For those who didn't know, due to sponsorship changes, the formal name of the championship is now 'The TR Register Triumph Speed Championship' and this is in part deliberate to make it clearer that the series is open to all makes of Triumphs not just TRs. On that point, we have introduced an 'invitation' class to allow cars with any sort of Triumph pedigree to come along and have a go even if it is not fully eligible. So any of you with a V8 TR6 or Spitfire with a Ford engine come and have a go.

    Nuala Dowie

Good morning, Just picked up this thread and share the concerns about facebook. I will contact Nuala's family and see what can be done with her facebook pages. I do know that after she died her family were faced with a catch22 situation, ie only the owner could close it down/alter it. Dave
  11. a look at carandclassic.co.uk... There's plenty of choice here from £4 to £40K Dave
  12. Tim, what dash are you after, the same as the came with the car, or a veneer like many fit nowadays? If you can wait there are usually different suppliers at MG/Triumph spares day in February who you could speak to. Dave
  13. Hi, I would contact your supplier, and ask for a replacement or refund. Given it is less than six months since you got it there shouldn't be any problem. Dave
  14. Luc Congratulations on passing the Contrôle Technique We had use a GPS sensor for our tripmeter on a rally earlier in the year, rather than the one fitted to the front wheels. We were surprised how inaccurate it became when it didn't have full access to the GPS signals, for us it was when we were travelling in woods/forestry. It 'stretched' distances, and the longer we travelled in the woods the farther out the distance became, which is not helpful when you are looking for a turn at a set distance! It also made the speed read lower than it should, towards the end of the rally we realised that the speedometer and milometer on the car were more accurate than the tripmeter in woods, a great surprise, as we were using a 1970 2.5pi! Anyway I suggest you fit a wheel sensor, or two one for each wheel, if you can and use the GPS sensor as a backup. Like you I fitted the trip meter and clock so as to leave no damage to the car, photo attached. Dave
  15. We're up for some gravel stages on next years C2C, Dalby forest beckons!! Unfortunately the car has retired from the Roger Albert Clark rally
  16. Another aspect to consider is the age of your original conrods, well over the expected life of the engine when originally built 40+ years ago. I am acutely aware of this as a conrod in the engine of my TR6 made an escape bid whilst travelling up the A1, see the photo. It's the big end which has failed, but cannot say which actual part failed, whilst some stayed in the sump and other bits were scattered across the A1 in Cambridgeshire.
  17. I have no experience of these rods in a spitfire engine, however I know of several instances of their use in TR engines, in fact my rally TR4 engine has had them fitted for a couple of years with no problems so far. Dave
  18. Most, if not all historic rallies run in the UK come under the jurisdiction of Motorsports UK (MSUK) rules. They have banned any trip meter which displays average speed as it gives an advantage on regularity rallies where the average speed varies over the route of the regularity. The photo shows the set up in my rally TR4, which has a Brantz 2Pro which is allowed as it displays actual speed, alongside the two clocks, Dave
  19. Hi Does the third brake light have to ve mounted centrally? I have seen a couple of TR6's with a third brake light mounted on the deck adjacent to the filler cap on the drivers side. They were covered by a neat fairing which finished it off nicely. This should be possible on a spitfire and would. Dave
  20. Neil, Does the ticking noise rise and fall with the engine speed, or does it vary with road speed? I have a TR6 which when it ran on the Lucas PI had a noisy metering unit until I had it refurbished, this could be another source of your noise. Dave

  22. Tim The following was posted on the TR Register forum last Friday, it answers your question Dave July 2023 Update Dear RevingtonTR Community, It has been a while since we did one of these and as there have been some profound changes in RevingtonTR we thought it time for an update. As some of you may be aware, Dan Allen has embarked on a new chapter in his life outside of RevingtonTR. Dan has been an integral part of our company for many years and will be missed, but we wish him every success in his new endeavours. With Dan's departure the family have made the decision that, with both a heavy heart and a sense of pride, we announce that after an extraordinary journey spanning four decades, Neil and Sue have decided to embark on a new phase in their lives and will be winding down RevingtonTR parts department to facilitate semi retirement in 2024. Neil and Sue's unwavering commitment, passion, and expertise have shaped RevingtonTR into the iconic worldwide business it is today. Their dedication to providing exceptional products, unrivalled customer service, and fostering a strong TR community has left an indelible mark on the world of classic cars. Since it's humble beginnings in 1980, RevingtonTR has grown into a globally recognized name, and a trusted source for TR enthusiasts worldwide. Neil and Sue's relentless pursuit of excellence has established RevingtonTR as the go-to destination for TR parts, upgrades, and knowledge, ensuring that these iconic sports cars continue to thrive Worldwide for generations to come. Their warmth, kindness, and genuine love for TR's has made the RevingtonTR community a tight-knit and welcoming one. As a result of this decision there will be a few changes in the way we operate, and we kindly ask for your patience and understanding as we navigate this transition. Rest assured, our team here is fully committed to maintaining the highest standards of customer service and delivering the products and expertise you rely on. One notable change will be a gradual reduction in our product range. We will carefully review and streamline our offerings, focusing on the most essential and sought-after TR parts and accessories. This will allow us to better manage our inventory and ensure availability of the items you need whilst the parts department is gradually phased out. We will then endeavour to provide alternatives if available. The thriving workshop operation is set to continue unchanged. On behalf of the entire RevingtonTR team, we extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued trust and support. Together, we will navigate this exciting chapter in the history of RevingtonTR and create a legacy that honours the remarkable journey of Neil and Sue. With sincere appreciation, The Revington TR Team

    MX5 Seats.

Pete Yes you should be looking for MK2 ones as well. Dave

    MX5 Seats.

Pete You don't say what car these seats are for, if it's for a TR there are conversion kits out there which allow you to fit the seats into the original floor fixing eg TR Trader https://www.trtrader.com/parts-lists/MX5-seat-brackets.htm . One thing to consider is that whilst leather seats look good they do leave you with a sweaty back, I prefer fabric ones when using them in weather like this. I have fabric ones in a TR4 and leather in a TR6. They are also cheaper to buy, when you find them Dave
