  1. Same for me, I'm in Barnard Castle. I'll try and find out if the meetings have restarted.
  2. Parts quality didn't seem an issue back then, it was more a case of finding parts, often buying used and refurbishing as necessary. It did help that a renowned TR specialist was based at Sedgefield (Northern TR's) and Moss had a branch in Darlington. Not sure if Teeside Triumphs have restarted meeting since the pandemic. The last time I went was over two years ago, in the tr as it happens. Hopefully someone on here will be able to advise if the meet ups have restarted. I could do with getting my mojo back and getting the cars out again.
  3. Great to see another local tr3a, it looks very good. Reminds me of my own restoration over 30 years ago and has inspired me to get it back out of hibernation and back on the road.
  4. Just like to wish all the entrants in the rbbr run this year all the best of luck. I hope you all have a good run and make it to the finish. It's a fantastic event and I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did last time. John
  5. Been busy myself changing a few bits on my 2000mk1. Now a 2500 with efi, not the usual pi conversion route, am using motorbike throttle bodies (Triumph). Have got it all fitted now and it starts and runs. Just need to dial in the tuning over the coming weeks
  6. As a 'newbie' for this year, I thought the event lived up to expectations. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes we nearly came to grief when our rear lights failed and we had to do a temporary rewire. This lost us an hour or more and the sweeper car stopped for us. We got going again and didn't see the sweeper again, but we were aware we were running late and this did put the pressure on a bit. By Carter Bar,  we knew we had cars behind us, by Knockhill we were starting to pull back some time, but only a little. At JOG, the 2hr stop allowed us to pull back time with a shorter stop. We still had time for breakfast, but left after an hour. We also took a slightly shorter route back to Skiach to make up time and give us a more relaxed drive. We had time for a coffee and refuel before arriving at the checkpoint about on time. We hadn't realised that the more experienced crews were arriving early at most checkpoints and then having a rest whilst waiting for the cp to open, we tried to aim for earliest arrival time, which if we had problems pushed us back. Having said that we were fortunate not to have any more mechanical or electrical problems. Preparation for the event, I think was key to this, I had spent 11months working on the car. The last thing I wanted was for the car to break down. If anything might be suspect on such a long event, it was checked, serviced or replaced. Our problems were more navigational, due to tiredness, believing the satnav which sometimes conflicted with the route instructions late at night, but this is a learning experience for ourselves, don't always trust the satnav. Time was lost waiting for breakfast at Lands end, perhaps a longer time allowance is needed here, also the traffic back across towards the end. We also got lost trying to find the correct entrance to Knebworth, again the satnav and tiredness creeping in. We did get there in the end, albeit 1 1/2 hrs late, but we did get there and the sense of achievement was immense, emotional even.  Would I change anything? Probably not a lot. Some timings maybe (lands end), but overall the event worked. A credit to all the organisers. If it was too easy, it wouldn't be the same challenge, it wouldn't be the RBRR and the sense of achievement wouldn't be as great, it would just be another car event. I learned of this event over 20 years ago. It took this long to build up courage to do it. Finally we did it.
  7. I am looking to upgrade the drive shafts on my mk1 2000. Cv shafts are available for the stag and hence the mk2 . Shafts are also available for the tr6 which are shorter, but as the mk1 2000 uses shorter driveshafts, would the tr6 ones fit.
  8. Just got back from attending the drivers meeting, a round trip of 430 miles in the old girl. Drove through strong winds and driving rain, testing just about every thing on the car. Only fault, as we pulled up at home, sat nav, radio, interior light and horn stopped working. Checked and changed fuse, everything working again.🙂. Averaged 29.96 mpg over the weekend, so well happy with that. Car is a bit lumpy at idle especially when cold, so will check timing and fuelling, but plug colours look Ok, oil and water levels also fine. Overall a good weekend giving confidence for the run. 9. Team 33 Work done so far, rebuilt front suspension and brakes, new rear springs and shocks. New exhaust. Replaced front seats and fitted front seatbelts. Rebuilt carbs, fuel pump and freed of fuel sender. Lots still to do, but getting there.
  10. Finally entry completed. Thought it was going to time out first, must have been close. Hope things go easier on the actual run. This is our first time, thought about it for years, just taking early retirement at christmas and had this on my bucket list to do. Roll on October. New car preparation  underway , 1969 Triumph 2000 saloon, bought with this event in mind. Lots to do, but with time on my hands, will be ready. Look forward to meeting you all. John
