  1. What a Numpty! I cut and pasted various bits then up edited everything except the Title!! Captain Sir John Blacks Birthday is definitely the 10th it definitely is FRIDAY and it Definitely is ready to go. If you have been Humming and Haring about it take a look at the BBC Weather page for Friday. A big fat sun with no rain forecast a couple of days either side for a margin of error. The Sun really does shine on the Righteous as my nan used to say! A chance to kick off our Centenary celebrations before the MG boys and girls have even opened their garage door! Its free to participate, don't forget to send your photo to the co-ordinator in the US. Copies of email address will be available on the day. Last year we were the biggest world wide as we should be, want to try and bust that this year! See you there!
  2. The stage is set fair, forecast on the BBC today for Friday is Sunny and Light Winds. The Standard Owners Club, Midlands TR Drivers the SOC have pieces in their publications and committed to coming. If you came last year you will know the set up. The stretch objective this time is to double last years attendance of 50 to get 100 cars for 100 years. Especially if you have a Dolomite with the once in a lifetime opportunity to park your car next to the Last Sprint ever made in celebration of 50 years of the Dolly Sprint. The soft top drivers seem were the most prolific last year so lets get those tin top models represented strongly. Fingers crossed the 10/20 I believe is the oldest Triumph on the road makes it again this year. Either way a wide spread of models as possible to show the international audience on the website the Home of Triumph is still in the UK would be the aim.
  3. Team, The Museum (and Cafe) opens at 10:00. The Standard Streamline and Last Dolomite sprint ever made will already be in position for the Photo Opportunity ready. The discunted museum entry of £10 has been agreed with the Museum for those attending. Last year we had the oldest Triumph attending and of course the "newest" The last Triumph off the line resides in the museum. So another unique aspect to see both of those in the same day. Also by my count there are 18 Triumphs held at the Museum from Prototypes to multiple Last One Ever Made. The Drophead models turned out in Numbers last year, be nice to see more saloons especially Dolomites on the 50th anniversary of the Dolly Sprint.
  4. Team, Picking up on a couple of items in this string. The oldest Triumph is in the midlands and the current owner turned out on Captain Sir John Blacks Birthday to Gaydon on 10th Feb this year. I'm hoping to pursued him back in 2023 as you will see elsewhere inn the events section I have been cajoled into setting up a similar event and photo opportunity this year with the last Dolomite Sprint off the line (50th anniversary) and a beautiful Pre war Standard streamline to help celebrate 100 years of Triumph.
  5. Following a great event this year. For the International Drive your Triumph Day Friday 10th of Feb 2023 , British Motor Museum will again be a Destination, For the worldwide celebration of John Black's Birthday. The turn out was 50 Standard and Triumph cars including the oldest Triumph on the road. All having the opportunity to park between the Last TR7 Built and the Last Stag Built moved out of the museum for one day only to take a Photo to load to the global website. Totally unique, it was a great ice breaker for the season to come and something a social gathering. For 2023 the museum is doing it again, for one day only they will roll out a beautiful 1936 Standard Speedline and The Last Dolomite Sprint off the line. To celebrate additionally both 50 years of Sprint and kick off 100 Years of Triumph Celebrations. The Stags and TR's turned out in numbers this year and would be nice if we can get some more representation from the Triumph Saloons and not let the sports cars have all the fun. Free to participate but additionally this time there is also a Discounted Entry to the Museum for participants, which houses 400 British cars and the Cafe as this was the only suggested improvement from last time. With many expected to return next year. Standard and Triumph Cars have reserved parking outside the entrance where the photos can be taken. Museum including Cafe and Shop. If you have not been before it's so easy to find just off the M40 motorway. See you there! Happy Birthday to Captain Black, The Dolomite Sprint and All Triumphs everywhere.
  6. My mum was so scared I was on a motorbike she got my dad to bring home a 1966 mini someone had advertised at work for £50. The head was cracked, so I had to get one from a breakers yard. The body had lots of holes where the top of the wings learnt a lot but this was only 1976 atrocious condition really by todays standards. Having replaced the head got her up and running, and took her for a test drive around the block. I learnt another lesson, I Met a police car, the result was £25 and 3 points for no insurance, £10 for no Licence, £5 for no MOT! then later £50 more than all the rest put together for No Tax which they picked up in a backroom somewhere from the convictions! If only my mum had left me on my bike!
