  1. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/202885190127 No personal involvement.
  2. I might be wrong, but I think the early Herald indicator is different to the others. My understanding is that that if the sidelights are on; when you indicate the sidelight flashes on or off. This is because both sides of the bulb get 12v, same as an ignition warning light. I believe the bulb has two poles on the base, but only one filament. Earthing through the bonnet and then the hinges is problematical. If either function is used on its own, then the bulb earths through the other bulbs. Anyone got a working 948 who can confirm?
  3. Thanks Wendy, that explains it. Its a double pole bulb! No earthing through the case.
  4. Does anyone have any pictures of an early Hearld Front indicator unit please? I think it works by one wire to the bulb coming from the sidelight feed and one wire coming from the indicator feed. I am just a bit confused how the bulb does not earth through the casing to the bonnet. Jessica has these on her Coupe, and wants them wired up 🙃
  5. If that is on idle, then great. You should see 45-50PSI at 2000RPM.
  6. I don't need the whole assembly, just the strut tube. However, I'm happy to take it all if it is still assembled.
  7. Anyone know what fluid to use? Used to be ATF-F, I was looking for the Carlube one pictured below. My local autofactors supplied a Dexron Type II - III fluid, is that ok?
  8. A But usually at the time of supply discuss; do you want it back, would you like a replacement would you like cash.
  9. "As he stared at her ample bosom, he daydreamed of the dual Stromberg carburetors in his vintage Triumph Spitfire, highly functional yet pleasingly formed, perched prominently on top of the intake manifold, aching for experienced hands, the small knurled caps of the oil dampeners begging to be inspected and adjusted as described in chapter seven of the shop manual." — Dan McKay, Fargo, ND Please keep replies to this clean, but this made me laugh!
  10. I can't find the photos, but Pete gave the gearbox the once over and we replaced the bellhousing with an aluminum single rail one from Moss. It is lighter to refit... 😅
  11. I think my daughter Jessica has found the problem with her clutch...
  12. Also, a bit tarty, but I bought some S/S bits from Chris Witor. The original dust shields resemble a colender after I cleaned them with a wire brush on an angle grinder.
  13. Also Hilary cleaned the vinyl of the door trims, and I re-dyed the carpet parts, replaced the hardboard with new and new plastic backing to keep the damp out.
  14. Roller bearing strut tops, Eibach springs from 'Shacktune' and Konis. Although I may well be upgrading to Shacktune Konis on the front of this car.
  15. I bought some off of eBay. Did have some trouble finding the correct size. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/163831832883
  16. Just had a reply from Chris, and he says the nut goes straight into the bearing. I might try and put a plain washer in there (if it will fit).
  17. Anyone fitted one of these conversions? They come a single O ring sealed washer which Chris says on his website is for the bottom. Pesumably to stop water being thrown up by the tyre. It also says "Top washer not needed" so does the nut on top of the damper go straight onto the bearing? Also says "Avoid pressure washing around the tops of the strut towers, which can allow water to enter the bearings"!
  18. It can be quite un-nerving the amount of lean. This is managed by the springs, not the dampers. Chris Witor sells the pieces to weld onto the Engine Cross-Member and the Drag-Struts if you want to convert your existing suspension. I would note that the drag-strut strengtheners are also worth while if going downthis route, as an anti-rollbar puts more load on the drag-struts.
  19. Hope to do the 10CR next year, although Stephanie wants to drive the Stag (of course) 😏
  20. Depends if you find the car leaning excessively at the front when you go into fast bends? The Estates have a higher CoG than the Saloons (due I am told to the amount of lead used in the body)
  21. I should add that Pete (in the photo holding a disc) is the genius who fixed said Pillar Drill. This was after I mullered it (applied to much force in the wrong direction) whilst dismantling, to replace the stripped gears for the 'back-gear.
  22. Welding and painting engine bay, front suspension starting to go back on. Hilary cleaning door trims for me, whilst I make new hardboard panels. New bulkhead bush fitted, which meant the steering column has to come out. The anti-rollbar brackets/bushes are the ones Chris Witor used to supply (many years ago).
  23. Furflex bought at Beaulieu, Hilary did a good job negotiating the price for me. Stephanie helping with new trim on the rear trim panels. My fault we had to redo them later as I did not realise that MkI's have foam between the vinyl and hardboard.
  24. Then someone suggested I clean and paint the the front suspension. When I took the subframe off I found some more rust, hidden away! Also fitted larger Drag-Strut cups, as fitted to the later cars. One Track Control Arm bolt did NOT want to come out. Some serious drilling required!
