  1. I am on it and hope to be able to impart some news within the next couple of weeks.
  2. I'd take the view that the car should be gone through: Set the valve clearances at 10 thou. use the rule of 13 Dizzy check as Clive states. Check the plugs, if badly sooted up, renew and adjust the carb's mixture, then balance them. Check the air filters and check to see you are getting full throttle.
  3. Hi Bradley, I'd go simple: As Clive states, plus rebuilt carbs and dizzy. New timing gear, new front pulley and if money is there a lightened flywheel and full engine balance
  4. As a long distance car to use for events such as the RBRR, I cannot think of a better prepared vehicle. Looks ideal. Very much hoping a CT type buys her!
  5. Jim, When you order them, let the supplier know and he will arrange. Ta, Tim
  6. Whoever buys this car will be buying a superbly sorted car. Good luck with the sale Mike and Alistair.
  7. Pete, When I have everything in place, you can order either. I hope to have all the details ready soon. Tim
  8. Simple wiring as a J type does not need a relay. Power to Overdive switch in the cabin to inhibitor to solenoid to earth.
  9. Blasted water pumps that are being sold are not that good....generally the County ones. Canley's one is good though, cannot remember the make of them though. I intend to use my GT6 for the next RBRR.
  10. Hi Phil, We have been issuing 'Advice Notes' for years, still not convinced that people read them. MOT guidance, not sure we have the authority to do such a thing?
  11. Hi Phil, Send me your address and I will post one to you. Sorry that we did not speak at Gledrid. Tim
  12. HI John, Last sentence querying if ST or BL did enter the event? Yes, they did. They entered many a car in the early days of the RBRR. 2000 mk2 before it had been announced, Dolomite Sprints, TR7s, TR8s (these cars being used again this year) and Acclaims. I can provide evidence.
  13. HI Colin, I am working on that at this moment. If you look at pages 19,21 and 23 of the Roadbook, you will see a chart that shows the completions from previous RBRRs for each particular Triumph Model.
  14. There are one or two alternatives, not particulary well known and we will be looking at them for next time. However, it is up to the Charity as they tell us which collecting platform they would like us to use. JG and such sites save money for Charities. When we supported Children with Leukaemia in 2004, I went to their offices which were a rather dickensian dingy offce that they rented from Great Ormond Street Hospital in London, never forget the stack of sponsor forms that a chap was working through to check the postcode for gift aid purposes, it was crazy. The bloke must have had the patience of a saint. But I totally agree, we need to discuss with the next Charity.
  15. This light issue has been a problem on the RBRR for ever, to the point that it is not worth discussing. Hence, my rather glib reply of just dip or move the rear view mirror. We cannot scrutineer the cars on the event as we have no right to do so. We just hope that the cars on the event have been put through a MOT. For the life of me I still do not understand why old cars are MOT exempt. I'd rather discuss the positives of the RBRR.
  16. We had, that is NIgel Gair's team, Dave Langrick's team and Tim/Jason in the TR6 had a bad experience with a fool in a VW Golf derivative on the M6 before Tebay. He would overtake a car, slot in front and then gradually slow down to 50mph, then as one attempted to overtake, he would speed up. He would also start to flash his lights at the car in front. He did this for about 10 miles, one could not see inside the car as all the windows were blacked out. Dave's partner, Ilka reported him to the Police and we await with interest to see what happens? Got to say it was a bit unerving and not very pleasant. Thankfully, near to Tebay he was in front of Nigel's car and Charles Nunn who was driving the Saloon left it till the last minute before diving off onto the end of the slip road. Good driving and common sense from Charles. I was fearful of an incident in Tebay car park.
  17. Dave Langrick in his 2.5L Spitfire has just sent the following to me: £499.91. 302 litres. 1909 miles knebworth to knebworth. 28.83 mpg
  18. Blimey, just dip your rear view mirror..simple!
  19. Tim, Are you sure the alternator is good? Have you put a meter across the battery terminals to check its charging?
  20. Pete, As you move off it shows Clive smiling away...always good to have a smiler! BTW, its a 10mph speed limit in the park, some big acceleration there....lol!
  21. Just in case anyone is looking for new wheel studs, nuts etc, try this company: http://www.speedshack.co.uk/ The chap there has been around since the 80s and has lots of knowledge, sells lots of tuning parts, not Triumph though.
  22. After setting a 5000rpm limit, we got 28mpg in my TR6. 351L at a cost of £620.00, average fuel cost being £1.77/L. Thought it would cost £600.00.....
