  1. Found the pic on google images....such a well thought out installation.
  2. Clive, how about putting some heatshields between the carbs and the exhaust manifold?
  3. Standardthread, Don't bin the carbs, give Andrew Turner a call, he is always looking for core and pays for them.
  4. Honeybourne Mouldings list a fibreglass hardtop...big price though £2,050.00 https://honeybournemouldings.co.uk/price_list_hardtops.asp
  5. Good luck with her Mack. As a longtime GT6 owner myself, I hope you will have lots of fun with her. Great that you are posting pics of here on this site.
  6. The Vitesse is getting fairly modified!!!!
  7. Hi John, A really nice looking car. A 2.5 Saloon with overdrive is a very suitable RBRR. We always think the RBRR is best approached by thinking about the next Control that has to be met, and not thinking about the whole event mileage as that can be quite daunting. Looking forward to meeting you at the DM next Saturday.
  8. Glang, I will concede that maybe in a Spitfire it is not so important to have a sucker fan, but a GT6 has such a minimal radiator surface area, that I would say essential. I am not a fan of those Kenlowe type probes that one inserts through a top hose joint, always looks like a leak will eventually happen. Or cutting and inserting a take off block and fitting a union.
  9. Paul, Get a sucker not a blower, the blower masks airflow into the radiator. Also, many put a radiator fan switch into the header tank, this is done by brazing a boss in a convenient position, a decent radiator re-conditioner would be able to do this.
  10. Made by Weller and not such a nice version, def need the hub caps.
  11. Just timings and we are not visiting the Haynes Museum, instead, the penultimate control will be at Popham Airfield between Andover and Basingstoke. The roadbook has W3W codes for the route and the controls.
  12. Oldspa, Be great to see some pics of the car, including engine bay, interior etc
  13. Dennis, Its looks bloody lovely, a car to grace our event, thank you.
  14. Hi Dennis, Yes, this is exactly what happens. When you sign on at Knebworth, you will be given you pack as I will have noted on the signing in sheet that you did not attend the DM. Hope the TR3A is ready for the off in just over three weeks time. Regards and thanks for asking, Tim
  15. Floyd, let us know which car you are going to use, be good to see your GT6 with James' newly acquired doppelganger.
  16. Nice story Jim, thanks for writing this and posting on the CT forum. Might inspire others to do the same, hint hint.
  17. Hi all, the DM starts at 10.30, depending on how quickly we can distribute the packs. Doors to the room open at 10.00. Regards, Tim
  18. Timothy, One can spend alot of money on a 1300cc engine. Probably the most sensible option would be too think about getting the basics done before starting to tune. Read this, full of great info: https://www.teglerizer.com/triumphstuff/performancedata/III_whichengine.htm As Toledo's don't have overdrive, I'd think about controlling coolant and oil temp and fit a bigger core to the radiator and a thermostatically controlled oil cooler. Triumph's 1300 engine is very underrated and one can do so much.
  19. Pierre, I had the same thought and will use the same type of light that is used on the propshaft hump inside the car, seems a good solution as it has an on/off switch, rather than a pressure switch and of course it is a TR6 part.
  20. Sad to see it go Don, one of the best GT6s out there. I look forward to next years 10CR and ssing you in the Sprint. Hope the new owners think about joinin CT?
  21. Excuse Jim...he can't help it, he does not get out much and actually is under the impression that his humour is funny...humour is supposed to be funny...or am I missing something???? Fiamms are Italian air horns as fitted to Italain exotic sports cars.
  22. So my RBRR prep. list for my TR6 is as follows: 1. Change the flywheel. 2. Install new static seat belts 3. Fit spotlights 4. Fit Fiamms!
  23. If the spring is soft/worn out, would not the car bottom out on its suspension, therefore be harsh?
  24. Fraser, take some pics of the front suspension and I am sure someone here will be able to advise. Rear spring may be past it, about £100.00 from Canleys. They buy from Britsh Heritage, so good quality. To fit, can be a pain, so a 'Spring Lifting Tool' is useful. Have a look in a Haynes manual has an illustration. TSSC site has them for sale at £60.00, an essential tool for small chassis cars. Relatively easy to make. https://www.canleyclassics.com/?catalogue=triumph-spitfire-mki/ii&diagram=triumph-spitfire-mki/ii-rear-suspension-propellor-shaft-and-road-wheels
