    New purchase

Probably last a lifetime, which may not be that long on those tyres.😁
  2. First car I drove on the road was a 1071 Cooper, when I was 13, it was a gift from my grandfather to me and my 2 siblings. I came home one day to find that my father had sold it for £145, to say I was not pleased is an understatement, still have not forgiven him 45 yrs later. Mind you if I had continued driving it I don't think anything good would have come out of it.
  3. I think I would have gone for a Reliant Scimitar chassis and shorten that.
  4. 1360 Herald. Possibly the last type I will buy too as I've just bought this.
  5. That looks very good for the money, I'm surprised it has not been snapped up already.
  6. Hi Ben, If you have anything left I would like to take you up on your very kind and generous offer to assist my on going maintenance of my MK1 saloon or towards my up coming MK2 GT6 restoration.

    Camshafts

I can vouch for the "hybrid" Witor cam in a 2.0. I think I would try the Newman cam next time I need one, for the quality and price I don't think you could do much better.

  9. I had a set of Rainexpert 3 tyres on my GT6, only did a few hundred miles on them before I sold the car, very good in the wet, on rough road surfaces okay in the dry if a little squirmy but suspect that to improve as they wear down. As a road tyre I will be fitting them again to my other GT6, good price too, I paid £33 fitted for mine but believe £45 is the more normal price now.
  10. I'm a fan of the Uniroyal rain expert tyres and not expensive. ones I fitted on the GT6 were £33 fitted gone up to about 40-45 in 175/70/13. I have fitted some 195/60/15 on my MK1 saloon, they can shift some water though. I hit some deep standing water at about 45mph lots of water flying, slowed progress a bit but no deviation of direction or any snatching of the steering. I could have avoided the water except for a 4x4 driver would not concede any of the road, probably didn't want to dirty the tyres, God forbid they turn up at the school in a dirty car, what would the other parents think
  11. Fitted new seat modern today. I would post pictures but as a non member I don't think I can.  I will try on the FB site
  12. I have found engine leveler is a very useful tool when using an engine hoist, although I have not used one on a saloon yet.
