This morning fox went in for her yearly inspection. Tester came and said to other guy didnt want to (he was a very big bloke) 😅. When she was ready i went in to get her and asked if she passed... Yes, but i cant feel my legs anymore 😆. So passed without any advisory's again ! Not bad after 384.802kms/+239.000miles. Done just over 12.250miles in the past year.

Saturday we went to the Abbey of Rolduc for the 10CR finish. For me 175km one way. Arrived at Rolduc to early and suddenly.. i spotted a brown Dolomite, had a talk with them and knew Fox to ! Then as i knew i had another hour that they started to arrive, i drive to the 3 Countries point (Belgium/NL/Germany) in Vaals. When driving back to Rolduc, Roger messaged me... to give me info and tell me more arrived, 30min drive and I was there.. Crikey ! It's the rozzers ! 20240907_181746.mp4 Then it was time to head back home after a nice evening. Massive rainstorm from just before Antwerp, softtop closed and stopped for fuel. Sadly water coming in between softtop seal and capping... But kept on driving. In total done 415kms, fuel use of 6,7L/100km. But did notice she was a little bit down on power.. Front carb was leaner then the back one, set it right and now fly's again.

Hi, I'm thinking of stripping my repro Revolution wheels after 11 years of daily use. Paint and clearcoat is getting bad. So.. how did others do it ? The outer polished edge was clear coated on mine.. but thats failing. Really been thinking of polishing it and leaving it bare alloy (i know.. more regular polishing). I had a look and search, i could strip with with a nylon brush on a drill or paint stripper. I would do this all at home and repaint them in 2K. Tires i can get off and on at work.

Decided to look at the noisy front suspension on Fox yesterday. Took it apart 2 times, 2 time removed all the bushes, loads of copper grease everywhere. Testdrive, all good. Wanted it to put it into the garage, outside the garage, still silent. Part it inside after 10 mins i push the car.. its back 🤬. Then i could see that both my track rod end gaiters had a split in them to and i dont have spares.. 20240831_210939.mp4

Yes it was to advanced, a lot ! Needed to actually search my white marking in the pully. I did check and adjusted everything. Timing, mixture, carb balance, timing again to make sure. It ran a lot smoother and more power to. checked spark plugs last week when he was here, nice brown color now. Owner now says after 2 weeks of driving it regular, its a total different car and uses a lot less fuel. So all seem good for now.

Recieved my order from a dutch Spitfire parts suppier (from the famous Rolduc area). And he had put some extra's in it.. Extra set of 45D points/condensor and a 25D points/condensor to. Thermostat i bought is NOS to, dont want to open it now 🫣. All is actually not for Fox, spares to help others probably.

As I try to help other Triumph owners.. If you get stranded in Belgium (I live in Dendermonde, between Brussels and Ghent) or you need (mostly Spitfire 1500) parts at Rolduc etc etc. you can always call +32472634307 or message me via facebook. But.. normally you will all do the 10 Countries without problems 😉. Good luck and I will be waiting on you all at Rolduc with Fox ! I still remembering helping a yellow Stag in the ringroad at Brussels years ago 🙃.

Last 2 days i had a strange noise coming from front suspension. Yesterday found it.. Told a friend where i been to friday that he needs to keep his stone to himself (driveway with these same stones.. )😅

Yesterday red Spit came back. Still was overheating... So removed all the hoses, needed to cut a few hose clamps.. 1 Hose was very bad and fully rusted shut.. as was a part of the water return pipe where it was on. Flushed it with the hose, amazingly block drain was still free. Lots of rust came out, then soda crystal water mix in.. gone for an hour drive. Let it back off, lots of dirt came out, flushed it again, then coolant on. He had an 82° thermostat. But still would creep up a bit in traffic. So fitted a 74° one that i had laying around. Owner was a bit more happy with that. Need to make a list on to do's for this car 😅

Its fitted on rubbers from when i had a Facet pump. And Hardi pump just fitted straight on to them. Actually no noise while driving, at least nothing that annoys me. The Facet posi-flow did make more noise. Only hear it tick a few times before starting up.

From thursday morning, i had a strong fuel smell in my garage.. So went to investigate, wet fuel pump. Nipped the top bot up. Still sometimes a bit wet. Really hate these repro pumps, has 5 times that it was leaking oil on the starter.. this one to. So.. time to go electric again ? Had a look... ordered a Hardi 13312 pump from Amazone, saturday evening deliverd. This morning fitted it all, electrics where still in my car + safety switch from my previous Facet electric one in 2018 (failed in 2019). The Hardi has the right fuel pressure, but keeping the Malpassi installed for now, mostly to use it as adaptor from 8 to 6mm fuel line. Went up to 4500/5000 rpm, no problemo ! And fitted my fuel pump 'delete' cover

Yeaterday a guy from around 30 came by with another 1978 Spitfire. I worked on this car at a garage for the previous owner in 2021. It ran not well now. Every stop it died, overheating etc. Had a quick look.. points would not open anymore, adjusted and idled fine (kids cant adjust points these days 😅 ). But could hear it still wasnt happy. Took plugs out... grey, to lean! Checked timing... way off ! Adjusted it all and testdrive, owner said it drove a lot better. Cooling temp was not to to bad. But in traffic it went up to 3/4th, still has original small rad. He 'flushed' his coolant etc a few months ago, i looked.. al very rusty. He never opened up the bock drain plug or got all the lines off to flush it good.. That will be my next job then.
