  1. Ok do you know if the dolomite sprint starters are the same as iv just been offered one
  2. So the flywheels are different, I think it would be much easier to get a dolly starter, do they look the same as a spitfire one , how can you tell the difference, thanks for the info btw
  3. I have a 65 herald and I’m in the process of fitting the third 1.5 engine first two were midget engines and both had bottom end problems, so I found a low mileage 1.5 dolomite engine ,I fitted it without any problems , now when I tried to start it the starter motor wouldn’t properly engage the flywheel, me thinking it was the starter motor gone bad I got another one only to have the same problem at first it just hit the flywheel like the teeth were not lining up so I added 10 millimetres to the spacer which got it engaging but wouldn’t not turn the engine over quick enough to start it , I shipped the car off to a mechanic mate of mine and he is baffled but he does think the flywheel (which came with the engine is the wrong one so won’t match up to the starter motor, the gearbox is from a spitfire non overdrive any ideas will be appreciated as I’m totally baffled cheers
  4. Mmmm are you saying it’s the bearings lol , thanks for the advice very much appreciated 👍🏾
  5. Definitely not the exhaust ,I wish it was ! , mine drops to around 20-25 after been driven for a while and that’s when the knocking starts it gets louder on acceleration
  6. Thank you for all the reply’s very helpful iv got a few options but I’m thinking of just getting an engine at the moment
  7. I used and and always use classic car oil
  8. Yes the pressure went up further than previous one
  9. Yes after doing some research
  10. Yes tick over is about 10k and is very smooth
  11. It’s got all spitfire 1500 running gear diff etc and the oil pump was brand new , no overdrive , it ran perfect for about 10 months it still runs nice just that worrying rattle when pressure drops ☹️
  12. I have a 1500 midget engine in my herald and it’s recently developed low oil pressure after about 15 minutes driving on start up its in 80 then it will go down to 20 and when this happens you can hear a rattle , iv changed the oil pump and also the oil pressure relief valve clean oil and filter I’m at a loss , so I’m contemplating getting rid of the engine

  14. Well said , to me its sacrilege, i just think driving classic cars isn’t just a look it’s an experience a feeling, my car is from 1965 I was born in 1966 and I’m a big fan of the 60s music fashion etc so every time I’m in my car It just takes me back to that bygone age , electric classics what’s the point 🤔
