  1. Thanks for all the last three posts. I have informed my mechanic and we will look at the points raised but the chokes are connected and working but we didn't know about the wax stat units !!! As soon as the States of Guernsey lift restrictions we are on the case. Thanks again.
  2. Hi Guys and girls, I live in Guernsey Channel Islands and own since 2006 an ex UK Red Spitfire mkIV 1493cc from year 1977.  I am not a mechanic but have enlisted help to get the car to fire up. Replaced and checked all electrics you can mention and rebuilt carbs and reset. Plugs get wet, fuel is fresh, float chambers are  clean, running twin SU's, everything that should be there is in good or new condition and connected. We have consulted Haynes and internet and followed all results. We got it to fire and run once we put neat petrol into engine via plug holes and it ran for about 15 mins before we shut off and left for 30 mins then it refired. Would not restart next day. My mate who IS a mechanic is baffled. Any idea what else to check don't mind Q and A on here or via flipperville@hotmail.com or John Bichard on messenger. Go ..........please
