  1. Reluctantly selling my Triumph GT6 MkIII (ARW 87K) to fund a share in a plastic plane (don't ask). Sensitively uprated to fast road spec so purists, to conserve your mental health and your Valium stocks, look away now. First registered in February 1972, this GT6 was sold first via a Scottish dealer to a Flying Officer Blackwood at RAF Laarbruch. It was subsequently in the same family from 1980 until 2021, and was subject to a full restoration from 2010-2016. The engine has been bored out to 2.2l, and the car is modified to a fast road spec. The extensive history file contains bills, MOT certificates and other documents dating to the 1990s, with no expense having been spared on restoration or maintenance, conducted by Moordale Motors at Potters Bar under previous and current ownership. The car has a Heritage Certificate and is MOT and tax exempt. More detail of its history can be provided on request. The car benefited from substantial, sensitive upgrades during the restoration, including (among others) 2x Mikuni HSR42 carbs, flowed head, Newman PH2 cam, handmade 6:3:1 exhaust manifold with ceramic coating, stainless repackable Bell sports exhaust, Chris Witor inlet manifold, Megajolt ignition, Kenlowe fan and oil cooler, Canley big brake kit (4 pot calipers and vented discs), trunionless uprights, CV conversion with alloy uprights and lower arms. New rear spring, reconditioned diff (3.63), new uprated propshaft, reconditioned overdrive (on gears 3 and 4), spax adjustable rear shocks, up-rated front springs with Gaz adjustable shocks. The car has a GRP bonnet, Revolution alloy wheels and 175/70 tyres, Newton Commercial trimmed seats and carpets, fully road-legal LED headlights of an unobtrusive and practical sort, modern inertia reel seat-belts, detachable GPS tracker, and a Bluetooth sound system. It was resprayed in Squadron Blue during restoration. There is no rear bench seat as there is insufficient width to be of practical use. The car has always been stored either in a garage or (in the last year) under a breathable waterproof cover, to be sold with the car. There is no apparent corrosion and exterior and interior are in V. G. C. Minor idiosyncrasies/ imperfections are an intermittently faulty hazard light switch, occasional blown fuse on the constant power circuit, and intermittent roughness changing from gears 3-2 (not unusual for GT6 gearboxes, which have to cope with more power). The chrome exterior details are a little speckled and, if looking for concours standard, could benefit from re-chroming. Since some of the above photographs were taken I have fitted the car with black-and-white heritage plates, but will supply it with the more modern yellow-and-white. In the last year and within the last 2000 miles, the car has had two full services, its underside Waxoyled, minor paint imperfections subject to detailing, reconditioned door locks and modern seat-belts fitted, all by Moordale Motors at Potters Bar. The car is sold with an MOT running to 30 January 2023, with no advisories, and a small stock of spares, including carbs and rocker cover. I purchased the car in April 2021 but have since moved, and am now doing too much city driving to make the most of it. Viewings, near East Grinstead, welcome.   2. Hi Tony, will post photos later this evening although in my opinion they make the dent look a bit more dramatic than it actually is. I am with Aegis through Footman James but have a speeding conviction, am relatively young and don't live in a rural area most of the time... so one can see why they might not want to touch someone again in that situation who has made a claim within a couple of months of taking out a policy...
  3. Hi all, my first post on the forum as a new GT6 owner (1972 Mk III). Unfortunately my car was reversed into in London recently, leaving a reasonable dent in the driver's side door. The driver did not, of course, leave a note. I am advised by my insurers that they would pay out but would then not insure me again next year. I've been advised that it should be reparable by a decent paintless dent remover and am looking for any recommendations in London/Herts, Sussex, Kent or Surrey? There are a couple of almost invisible marks where the paint could do with touching up so any recommendations for decent detailers would also be great. As ever the balance of good quality, knowledge of classics (as far as I can see GT6 is made of thicker steel than a modern) and cost-effectiveness would be ideal - but of course one cannot have something for nothing. In the longer term I will look at re-skinning the door but am interested in seeing how much is reparable at this stage. Thanks for any recommendations in advance!
