  1. P.s....thats one bloody ugly exhaust!!
  2. hmm...seems like a bit of buggering around for a mani...unless he was going down the route of trying to keep as much heat away from the carbs to stop the fuel evaporating? Only say that as i had that problem on my gt6 with a 6 branch mani, it just got far too hot even with wrap!!
  3. I was only going by what I have been told...if its got 6 cylinders im going to be cautious regardless of weak studs or not! The boxes hadn't been near a droplet of water in two-three years and still haven't now, as I said it was still doing it after 25 mins out on the road but noticed it first after three miles. Just fitted a new thermostat and sensor along with drained the old coolant and topped up with new. I'll be taking it out tomorrow so ill report back, its not the end of the world if it is a head gasket as I want the head converted anyway! thanks for your help chaps!
  4. Jumped in my tr last night for a blast as the weather was fiiiine, after getting about 3 miles out of my lane i noticed it seemed to been letting out a rather lot of white smoke/steam from only one tail pipe (wheel barrow type exhaust) i recently purchased these (second hand) as my old ones from mikey made the wife complain (like she needs and excuse!) i checked the water and dip stick the day before and all seemed well but after about 25 mins of being out it really started to smell of hot coolant. The oil pressure gauge read 55 at 2500rpm as always and the temp gauge was half way. Just checked the water and oil and its not lost a single drop but I am petrified of a head gasket failure as i know these sixes are a bit prone! My only thought is if the twin boxes i purchased have been kicking around are a bit sooted up could that just be it? Remember its only coming out of one box!
  5. I too have the problem with these pesky bulb holders so ill give that a go too!
  6. haha yeah my mrs often gets headaches when i want something too! But great advice...Ive done plenty of clutches in peugeots and vws but never in a rear wheel drive car...as for the fly...ill take your advise, it revs spritley as it is just thought whilst i was there! I need it done by june...ill call the tr shop today and get a price! God how the devil did you manage to do it by the side of the road in france?!
  7. GOOOOOOD AFTERNOON CHAPS! How are we all? So...i was out in my tr and accelerated hard out of a round about and it slipped like mad! It now does it quiet alot...so a new clutch is needed, Question one...is it a simple easy enough job? Question two...is it worth getting a lightened flywheel? And question three...Does anyone want to help fit it? (ive never done one on a triumph!) I can pay for the time ect...many thanks! :)
  8. very smart seats there...what kind of price are you looking for them? gary
  9. Shit those wheels look the nuts man....weeeellllll geeelllll!!!!
  10. well a small update on the od...took it back to the mot station, playing with the od there and back and not a whisper of noise, it engaged softly and smoothly, I couldn't get it to do the thud once. Its rather annoying though as now I wont know what it was if it never returns...or atleast until im half way up the country and it falls out! Many thanks for your replies though gents, ill be changing the oil with what you say is best!
  11. ah the scrapman! well on the way to the mot station it was such a smooth engagement, but on the way back when it was nice and warm it engaged with a good thump, I thought it was going to break and id be leaving a trail of cogs! when I finally get underneath it again and ill see what type of od it is!
  12. thanks for your reply roger, I do keep the throttle on when I engage od, when I switch it out I must say its mainly throttle off to accelerate out of a corner. it all seems to be solid rubber wise, the only thing I have noticed it the exhaust is very slack, failed its mot due to this plus other bits but that could be it I guess? Got nothing else to go on really as its my first od car!
  13. Well as the title says I now get a loud clunk as soon as I engage the overdrive...it hasn't done it before but now im rather reluctant to use it as im frightened of damage!! It does engage straight after the clunk so could it be the solenoid? Please help as I love using it!!
  14. This is the look I wanted to get on my gt6...a fat low "euro" look, I ended up getting some vitesse wheels 5.5x13 handles much better and gives it the wide look, if you wanted to go really wide look at getting some banded, but do your home work on who you chose as you want them done properly! Obviously be sure they will fit inside, rubbing ect....
