  5. I changed the overdrive on my TR3a to a 28% but did not like it. 2nd overdive was basically 3rd and 3rd overdrive was higher than 4th so you could not "change up through the gears". It basically changed a 7 speed box into a 5 speed box. It did make motorway cruising much more relaxed or, when in Europe faster i.e. cruising at 90 to 95 MPH. This was with a 3.7 diff not the usual 4.1 which was standard for the overdrive cars.. AndyF
  6. Hello, would anybody be interested in a Triumph TR7 with a V8 conversion? It is a 1982 car and was coverted using the correct subframe. The date of the "last V5C issued" is 6th November 2012, which I presume is when Paul Darbyshire bought it. I know Paul did a couple of runs with this car, one being the Scottish Caladonian and, if memory serves me right, it was with Barry McGrath. It was put into storage around the time, or shortly after, Paul purchased his 3rd TR7. I should be able to get better photos of it sometime next week but in the meantime and to give you an impression I have attached a few photos taken in the storage unit. The car could not be rolled out as it was blocked in by another car. The hood is missing on these photos, it is in good condition but not stored presently with the car. I have not mentioned a price as neither Adam nor I have any idea what this car could be worth. If you are interested, have further questions or can suggest what the car might be worth please send me a PM as I might miss any replies to this post. Thanks Andy Flexney
  7. Lucas 25521, M418G Starter Motor for sale, fits Triumph TR3a I was sold this as a Triumph TR3a starter motor which I believe is correct. It would mean that it also fits the Triumph TR4 and TR4a It has 10 teeth and was refurbished a few years ago and has been on the shelf since. Due to the weight I would prefer pick up from North Lincolnshire but can post at cost, should be about £8.00 First to offer £60.00 or more can have it
  8. that is the problem John. Obviousley you have never drive a sidesreen car otherwise you would know the windscreen vibrates so much you cannot see anything out of a "stuck on" rear view mirror. A sat nav vibrates off within the first 2 miles.Ask me how I know?
  9. I had a similar issue years ago and after changing the battery and still having the problem. I eventually found I had a bad earth. In this particular case it was the negative cable to battery terminal connector. Changed that and everything was fine with both old and new batteries. After all that rain and the position of the Stag battery it could be that you have corrosion on one or both of the terminals.
  10. Sorry John this is not possible with the early TRs. How about a little more courtesy when driving behind someone? I have noticed over the years that more and more people are becoming night blind and react by putting on brighter headlights. Something I can associate with, BUT when driving behind someone else why not just leave a bigger gap? If you are lighting up the car in front, i.e. there is not a dark spot between the end of your headlight beam and the car in front, drop back if not preparing to overtake.
  11. How things have changed since my last RBRR in 2006. The night before we had a curry with a couple of beers, started and finished a bottle of whiskey and enjoyed a couple of cigars. But again, I was co-piloting with Paul Darbyshire. 😁
  12. Hi Stuart, I have had this hanging around in the garage for ages, I was told it was from a TR7. Would it be of any use? AndyF
  13. Good Afternoon, I have just seen that the 18e Nacht van het Oosten (aka The Chinese Rally) will be taking place on 18th March 2023 starting near Bentelo, The Netherlands. This rally, as well as the one organised for later in the year, used to be well attened by Club Triumph cars and I was wondering if anyone else might be up for a trip to The Netherlands? More information can be found at https://www.triumph.nl/nl/content/18e-nacht-van-het-oosten Cheers AndyF
