More cons: Wire wheels contribute to global warming and have caused some of the trouble in the middle east. More info here on why James Bond didn't really have them on his DB6 (he had revolution 5-spokes.) http://www.mwsint.com/site/cms/contentChapterView.asp?chapter=1
  2. Docman - shame to have lost you! I reckon - unless it's a bit "Princess and the Pea" (which it might be of course) - your impression's much more likely to be based on the change in tyres than wheels as you say. But what do I know. Re: Roundtails - naaaa, they all look the same.

  4. Danny that's brilliant - looks better than the original.
  5. You're talking about the wire baskets? Try eBay first of course, but there's nothing very clever aboiut the locking mechanism, as I recall. They could be taken off with an Allen key, if it weren't for that little nub in the middle there. If they're on tightly, I would advise you to centre punch that little sucker then drill that nub out of the way, then use an Allen key. Of course, they will then be less secure in the future - the baskets that is - but making a tool to fit would be a nuisance and I suspect your chances of finding a "key" out there are slim. If they're not done up tight, I would think a couple of flat blade screwdrivers might do.... Last idea - get an Allen key of the right size (measure the flats in the basket - accurately) then have your friendly lathe operator open the end for you....
  6. I ran 8" rims and 205's on mine for a while - looked good, made the ride as hard as rock. Had to get all my teeth done. Just sayin'.
  7. Think of it like the tube map. Central Line to Marble Arch, Northern line to your destination. See the number 72's in the middle? Those are the fuses. Edgeware road. The rev counter (tachometer - number 5) is intermittent 'cos you've got problems with the signals on the Hammersmith and City. Simples.
  8. Well, mine haven't. But then mine doesn't see many extremes of temperature, it's true.

But Moss, Canleys,  etc seem to list a non return 'tube' that is used with the oil cooler adaptor? Really? Blast! I thought there'd be a 4-cylinder version as well (yes, mine's now a 6-cyllinder). Apologies. There bloomin' well should be one. (I got very tired of listening to start-up rattle on the four-cylinder engines I was killing - anything that addresses that would be worth having.)
  11. Oil cooler - not necessarily - spin-off conversion for the oil filter - absolutely.
  12. Something shiny I don't have? Well well!
  13. PS - plastic??? (And sorry - my photo's naff all use to you of course, which is why I didn't post it earlier. I should have founf an old one...).
