Yes...I can remember someone waving enthusiastically, must've been you! Great weather. My first real taste of the Highlands. I once went up there on a Ducati 748 with a bunch of loonies and didn't notice much of the scenery! Too busy looking where I was going! But you see more in an open top.

Just back from a trip to Mull and Skye in the Tr3. The weather was unbelievable and the car performed faultlessly for the whole 1000 mile excursion. Bumped into a few TR Register guys on the way.

I also had this problem. I opened one little bleeder at a time and just let it drip into a container, popping back every now and then to replenish the reservoir. It worked. I did the clutch like that also.

Ah...so it's different for vehicles. I didn't realise. I'll give it a go. £45 max sounds better than what I thought it would cost. Cheers.

Have ebay increased their costs? I haven't sold anything for quite a while on there, but when I went to list a Triumph 350cc motorbike I found that they take 12.8%of the sale. On a £3500 bike that's £400+they'll take!! I had to list it on Facebook and put up with all the 15 Yr olds asking what's the lowest you'll go mate? Still not had a genuine interest either. I might have to go retro and put an advert in a monthly magazine!!! How quaint!

I don't know if the GT6 has a revcounter that works off the coil or if it's a cable driven one, but if driven off the coil any LT ignition problem will be confirmed by the needle bouncing all over the clock.

If you look on ebay there are literally hundreds of cheap cars and motorbikes like this. This scam is a few years old. Look for an odd looking price... Like £2137 for example. A bit of a giveaway, probably a quirk of exchange rates. That destination where you "safely" deposit your money is a fake site. You'll never hear from them again. EBay have been trying to stop them but they just can't keep up with sheer volume. If you want to see how common it is, look at the "newly listed" items there's page after page. Usually only 1 photo of the vehicle and 1photo of the instructions to avoid ebay.

If a bloke had a stash of spitfire parts and came across a set of identity tags and a log book and this bloke then built up a car, he's technically broken the law on one hand but at least he's got another Spitfire on the road. I personally wouldn't see anything wrong with it. All cars are just a collection of parts. The paperwork is just that. Paperwork. Just my opinion.

Yes, I agree with all the above comments, but why then are there people buying fairly mundane cars and getting them professionally restored? My doctor always wanted a Stag. He was going to go that route but I told him to just pay £18k for one of the best ones and save himself time and money....which he did. ( This was a few years ago). I'm happy as long as I don't lose money on a restoration and up to now I never have, but my original point was that it's difficult to buy stuff now for the right price. Don't get me started on the quality of new parts.

If a fully restored car is worth £25000 and the market value of a rusty wreck, same model, is £8000-£10000, how the heck is it viable to have one professionally restored? Ive finished my latest rebuild and am potentially looking for a new project but they don't stack up anymore. I did all the work on mine myself except obviously the cylinder head machining but I'm still only just under the market value in money spent. I've done quite a few cars and motorbikes over the years and although I love doing them I can't afford to lose money on them. Is it linked to the number of TV programs giving a rose coloured view of the hobby? Of course the market will dictate prices, but has anyone else been dismayed with the number of 10 grand basket cases of quite ordinary cars. I'm not talking about Aston or Ferrari here. It's hard to buy something for the right price. Maybe I've done my last resto after 40yrs!!!

Well. The F. I. A. have really messed up here. I can't see how they can refute the Mercedes protest. The rules were clearly not adhered to, maybe for good intentions, but races have been concluded behind the safety car on many occasions in the past, and should've been here. But to deliberately get Max up to (and indeed nose in front!) of Lewis knowing he's on new softs and Lewis's tyres were 40 odd laps old is to cynically engineer the Red Bull victory. I can't see a way out for the F. I. A. They can't surely disqualify Max. He did nothing wrong, apart from show his nose to Lewis at the restart, which is naughty but not a hanging offence. It's all Masi's doing. Did he regret not being more strict on the time advantage Lewis got on the first lap and tried to level things up? What a mess.

I saw a car advertised the other day, I think it was an old Vauxhall, and it was fitted with a Zetec fuel injected engine. Very nice, but can't qualify for Historic Status, I. E. Mot exemption as it's too radically changed from original. But I wondered, does it still get the tax free status? Anyone in the know?

Great effort. I love these cars...but the rust!! I bought one in 1977 it was 2 years old, and it had a rusty roof. Why? Also the top of the boot lid. By the standards of the day we expected it around the wheel arches and sills, but I always thought it was unacceptable to have a bloomin roof go rotten. I didn't know about crankshaft end float with when I was 21! I replaced the clutch at least twice and still couldn't get 1st. Fond memories though.
