  1. Hi all

I am trying to mate a triumph 2000 engine to an early vitesse gear box (1600cc)

am using the 2000 clutch and vitesse bell housing

has any one had problems doing this before .

the problem  is the clutch release bearing is to far back towards the gearbox and the lever is at full throw and wont  engage with the clutch.

Is there a  longer clutch release bearing?

or has anyone sorted this problem out before.

    thanks in advance

  4. Hi all

I have managed to track the original engine down for my 948 it has sat in a local machine shop totally rebuilt as a short motor for the last 15 years. But i need to know if the manifolds/starter/distributer/gbox of a 1200 will fit. I have the diff and propshaft but all other running gear has been lost when previous "restorer" abbanded project. I have rebuilt chassis and body, brakes .would be nice to fit original engine.

  5. hi all
can any one tell me if the exhaust on a 1200 mk 1 chassis is routed through rear chassis cross member or under. also if through chassis where to obtain one. in my parts book a support bracket is welded on after fitting is this to stop system from banging on chassis?
the exhaust system  the car came with seems to hang under chassis i presume this is for a later chassis(with wider rails) as  this is a total rebuild i would like it correct.
