Spit Mk4 gear lever plastic cover
Clive replied to RogSpitMkIV's topic in East Sussex's East Sussex Chat
It is easy to take apart. With a grinder and cutting disc. 3D printing may not be ideal as (from experience) it isn't as tough as orginal parts. I can have a look and see if I have a non-od gearstick in the garage. I should be able to look later today. -

Cheers Clive, AngClassics replied the 3 rail repair kit parts won't fit and suggested a whole replacement gear lever as well. I'll have to see how hard it is to disassemble the lever to get it off and 3D print a replacement maybe. Who knows.. -

I thinkl you are correct, the spring and plastic domed washer must be put on prior to the anti-vibration rubber "bit" I think a replacement gearstick is your best bet. Unless you fancy cutting the rubber section out, and sourcing an alternative plastic/metal washer. A 3 rail one ,ay work, or possibly from the big saloon gearbox. But would need careful checking first. -

Hi peeps. (Spit Mk4 but 1500 single rail gearbox possibly!)Took advantage of lack of rain today and drove to Hove and back from Eastbourne. Fabulous drive but 3 miles from home shifting seemed like pushing through treacle. Got home and discovered this plastic part had split and jumped up out of the securing metal cover. Don't seem to see any replacements online nor obvious ways of removing old one at first look either! Any advice? Thank you. Rog.

A rather damp afternoon, but a lovely route without too many puddles. A handful of Triumphs, most came in modern tat. Cakes and tea aplenty🙂

I am organising a drive followed by tea/coffee/cakes to Aldingbourne Trust (near Goodwood) https://www.aldingbournetrust.org/ It will start just north of Brighton (exact location TBA) at 1pm to leave at 1.15pm on Sunday 25th Feb. The route will be approx. 35 miles and arriving at the cafe 2.30pm. Last time we visited we were supplied with PLENTY of cakes and hot drinks. The cost will be £6.95pp paid direct at the cafe. If you wish to visit the main centre, there is an additional entry fee, but as they close at 4pm, there is little time to do anything but chat while eating cake. Some people did squeeze a quick visit to the shop though.... Unfortuanately no dogs are allowed into the centre. If you would like to join us, please contact me or leave a reply here
