  1. Team 30 GEORGE THE HERALD

Probably the slowest car in the field but I did give it bean's through Wales  and by careful time management in the later stages still managed to be 5th car back

Despite the weather this was once again an amazing event

Massive thanks to the organisers and marshals who get thus boat to float

Master light switch gave up sending voltage to instrunet lights ,google sat nav became my speedo

Minor issues were a thermostat that stuck open somewhere bear Corbridge meaning no heat to screen so we were continually wiping away until john of groats when it was a less wet, but still raining and so an opportunity to change it( I was initially worried we had lost coolant, but thr car was running find until later miles when a small amount of choke was required, due to tge external water cooling going on by nature)

A condenser started to fail and was swapped out at falls of shin

Many thanks Julian and Ben 20231010_073252.thumb.jpg.7e0f20b047dd806ae5d298abdc5a2d90.jpg

  2.  the maps are short sections

i think you will be fine as long as you have opened the map and are running it before you enter a no signal area as it will be running nav  from phone gps , you will lose search and live traffic functionality  of course until signal/data is restored

  3.

    GOOGLE MAPS

RBRR google map links with  destinations added to keep it on correct route

i have omitted 1st section as going up A1 doesn't require google nav and last section will be let  google maps decide best route

(trust at own peril , look ok to me)

  4. from bbc website

for those of you driving cars that will do more than 20mph

Will I be fined if I break the 20mph limit?

The new 20mph limit has come into force for all restricted roads, which are defined as ones with lampposts placed not more than 200 yards (about 180m) apart.

If you are pulled over doing more than 20mph in a built-up area in Wales you could, in theory, fined a minimum £100 and get three penalty points.

But police say the response will be proportionate and reasonable while drivers get used to the change as the focus for the first 12 months will be on education - as officers have a level of discretion.

GoSafe is made up of Wales' police forces, councils and the Welsh government, and applies the guidelines for road fines.

It said while the public gets used to the change in the limit, it will only start to prosecute at 26mph in a 20mph zone.

  6. i have booked  for the cheap seats at premier inn,  stayed there in 2021

much better post rbrr banter than i recall when i stayed at novotel 2016, and there is always McJim

can the thursday advance guard let them know to  have enough bacon and staff on for monday morning though!

  7. Hi both my gt6s Inc current mk1 have run this combination,  OK it may not be fastest off the mark, but is v relaxed motorway cruising  and the 2l lump is v capable of pulling this. I  easily keep up with tr6,s and it s as fast as my pi.  Ratio is  25 mph per 1000 rpm in od and 20mph per 1000 in top.  I'm sure thus would have been a more standard fit if more motorways were around and Stanley markland wasn't, hiding in the wings with his pull from 10mph in top gear without hesitation bull!

    • Thanks 1
  8. My 2nd rbrr prev was 2016 in my own pi this as codriver in tr7

I enjoyed the blind date setup by volunteering as a last minute co driver. Francis was a great chap and serious rbrr veteran

Gartosch was fine and did what it needed to do, rally app didnt work at all tried to log in a knebworth and carter bar and said no each time, did it need to recognise my phone no. ???

Run back in and to haynes was great was some of this due to fuel crisis and slightly less people on m25?

Great banter afterwards in the cheap seats(beds)also at premier inn.(they ran out of breakfast items like novotel too)

It would be nice to see more ladies on the event , how this could be achieved ?  reduced entry cost  or quotas  but this may alienate other members but i throw it out as a thought.

great event, as 2nd i could switch off easier  when not driving and even missed most of wales bendy bits asleep.

    Thank you

     julian
