    I didn’t know we had a private 10CR forum!  🤣

    Excellent 👍🏻

I am pretty sure (but happy to be corrected) it is the

Entrants subnforum. This is probably only accesible to entrants.

You mean....like telling all the Continentals where to find all our classic cars all in one lump!

Exactly, something like that (while anyone stealing my spit would be quite desperate). I have started a thread in the private part / 10CR entrants.

    Best wishes

    Nick

  3. I'm not sure whether this thread should be moved to the privat 10CR, however here are my reservations

    I think that is it

Update: After having emailed Rimmer Bros yesterday they contacted the suppliers and of course they have only ever had two customers complain and I was one of them!!

Anyhow, they agreed to replace it and it arrived this morning so can't fault their customer service on this occasion

Count me as a third - however I did not bother to complain. I just switched to silicone.  Good luck.

  5. I can also give a picture of my silicone hoses. I had a similar experience with new rubber hoses. Apart from the fact that the hose split before I had a chance to drive the car. I  fitted the hose in october, and when I took the car out in may, the hose was split.

I have attached a pic from last years 10CR where you can see the hoses - all hoses in the picture are silicone (apart from fuelhoses). Going on their 5th year now.

  7. I can now almost declare the Spitfire ready for 10CR. I refuelled the car after 10CR2019, and must shamefully admit that I have not been driving since. The fuel seems OK, a bit stale perhaps, but can propel the car. After a refuel it seeems to got better though. Still old fuel is definately better than diesel, for those of you who remembers a very smokey spitfoire in Lille at the 10CR2017.

Did (with great help from friends) a few jobs.

I have changed the wheelbarrow exhaust for a kind of a little bit more silent singular sportsexhaust

Topped up gearbox and diff with oil. Gearbox had used/spilled about 1 tbsp of oil since start og 10CR i n 2019

    Rear wheel bearing lubricated

Front trunnions and steering rack oiled

Installed oilcooler (I was cooking the oil in the mountains at 10CR2019)

Cleaned and adjusted the brakes - mintex pads were only half used so they were deemed fine.

Replaced the softtop. The old vianyde was on the car when I purchased it in 1998, and was tatty allready then. So a new canvas was installed.

    New rockers and rockershaft

Carbs overhauled. Surprisingly enough the AAA needles seemed perfect when tetsed on a CO2 tester while driving.

Changed the distributor. Had a NOS one. Now Saltdirk can have the one back I borrowed from him at 10CR2019 when my ancient one exploded.

SpitMK3 seats replaced with GT6MK2 seats. Not sure if this is a good idea, but wife/navigator is happy.

Door interior dismantled, lubricated and anjusted. Now the windows goes up and down!!

Steeering rack adjusted. Now the turnsignal cancels. Revolution!

Horn repaired - turned out the neg earth over the steeringrack-knuckle had broken.

    Washed the car.

    Problems remaining:

OD seems a bit intermittent. After a extended motorway drive, 1 hour at 4500 RPM, the OD would not operate. After a while, and returning to citytraffic, I could get it to work again. It works happily now. Took the car to work this morning (said one hour at motorway speed, at 4000 RPM though) No problems.

    See you all in Sedan!

    Cheers

Dates will hopefully be finalised by the end of the week, but likely to be week commencing 22nd Aug, one in Herts and one up north(ish).

Once confirmed, I'll post / send out.

    Hi Ellis,

First of all, thank you for the great work you do.  For the international participants, how should we go about this? Would it be possible to join in on drivers meeting on video?

Previously you have been so kind as to carry all papers etc to the starting point. Perhaps this year you would prefer to mail the papers instead of carrying stuff around in the boot. Could I forward money for postage and have it sent instead? Same gos for the trophy from 2019 🙂

    Look forward to the startline

    Cheers

Does it have registration paperwork? If so, £1200 is something like 1/3 to 1/4 of it’s likely value, even in bits. It would break to more than that.

    For example

    https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/255455430484?hash=item3b7a548754:g:sTsAAOSwyU9iPqIr

asking £3600 for this sad object.

Would have thought you could find a German buyer?

    Nick

Thanks - it does have the US- registration papers. It have never been registrered in Denmark. The project on ebay are quite pricey!!

Will try and get some decent photos of the car (just a bit diffivcult as is is stacked in the back of the garage and full of spareparts. German ebay might be a good idea.

Thanks for the links - I do not know if the netherlands are to far away, but will definately try the swedish and german car sites. Thanks

  10. Hi,

I have reluctantly given up on my GT6MK2 project, and have decided to sell it. I do not know where to sell the car though. As the car is in Denmark, it would probably only be interesting to european buyers, but I have not yet recieved any good offers on what I suggest is a very sound car (though in pieces). I have recieved an offer just shy of 1200 pounds, which is less than I expected. The car is a california mk2 with overdrive, rustfree tub and extremely nice doors. Comes with NOS metalastic couplings and optional rearseat in undamaged condition.

Where do one put these things up for sale to reach an international audience. Or should I just bite the bullet and sell it to this guy who will at least rebuild it and not sell it for spares?

    Cheers

Not in all cases, mine is very quiet and easy on the ear, even on long runs. The single skinned tails are louder than the double skinned ,rolled ends type

Thats what I said 10 years ago 🙂

The exhaust is probably worn out. Anbd a 1300 screamer with raised comperesion and 1.5SU perhaps adds to the booming resonnance.

Probably also depend on the rest of the setup. Mine were double skinne with rolled ends. Lack of silencer in the pipe between manifold (tubular) and the rear silencers probably added to the noise. Hopefully the addition af a silencer in the mid pipe along with a newer single exhaust will be less intolerable.

    See you in France

  12. Well, my spit has not moved an inch since 10CR in 2019. Perhaps not the best starting point.

However, I have fitted new delco distributor - now Saltdirk can get the distributor back, which he so kindly lend me 3 years ago, when my distributor died unexpectedly somewhere in the alps.

The 1.5" SU's have been farmed out for overhaul.

I have fitted a new less loud exhaust. Wheelbarrow exhaust are a pain on 10CR.

New (older) seats have been fitted.

    Oilcooler fitted

New softtop fitted. The old one was leaking badly

Perhaps I will be able to wind the sidewindows up and down. I am fitting the GT6 windows to the car with quarterlights.

    Brakes needs servicing

and finally I need to replace all fuellines.

    That should be abouit it.

    Cheers

  13. Quoted from Greta-

Road Book P9 under points to note.. says:

    3.
In the instructions you will notice suggested lunch stops. These are NOT compulsory, so please take these into consideration when working out if you are running late or not.

Please can someone list them as I don't seem to be able to find these in the route descriptions. Thanks

Lunch breaks are not very explicit, you have to look for 30 minutes intervals without change in miles.

    eg: day 1 at 13:52

    Cheers

    Quoted from Tim Hunt-

    I won't be re-booking Nick. Couldn't beat  €65.66 including breakfast in C.M.

    Tim

I also had found a fair hotel in CM, but jumped at the chance for a medival castle in Sedan.

Look forward to see you all during 10CR. :-)

That's where we're staying as well Nick!

Great minds think alike :-)  Who does not want to stay in a castle?

We are braking the 1200 KM trip from denmark into two bits, so having a stay in a small village just 100 KM south of Bremen. Then it will be a pleasant 500 KM drive to Sedan.

So hopefully we will meet in sedan late afternoon tuesday :-)

    Cheers

    Nick

  15. Quoted from Tim Hunt-

You are right about the start point Nick but in fairness to Ellis he initially said the start would be 'near Charleville Mezieres'. On the face of it the Place Ducale in C M looked ideal as a starting point but I am sure there are good reasons for the choice of Sedan. The start is scheduled for 08.30 so not desperately early and it just means leaving a hotel in C M 20 minutes earlier.

    Tim

This is fine by me - just an observation. And also a chance to change hotel to a very posh one in Sedan :-)

  16. Quoted from Howard-

  17. Quoted from Saltddirk-

I have Shanghaied him to do it once more with the spit.

    Dirk

I kind of hoped you would be taking the Gloria for 10CR2019.

I seem to remember you were also in the red spit last time (if I am not mixing you up there were some carb-problems in the mountains going uphill crating a stutter (i think we briefly met??)

    Cheers
