  1. Thanks for your replies it helped to reassure me. I took the spring out to renew the buttons which everyone seems to advise, so will replace the block as the car seemed to sit Ok before.

The block is 3/4" thick by the way.

It also has CV joints but Rotoflex seemed an easy way to state it had a bottom wishbone?

    Thanks Derek

Im looking to do a engine rebuild on my 1973 2000 2litre. I want to try and increase the power a bit without losing drivability. I have been looking into camshafts. One that i have been looking at is from a tr6. I have been told there are 2 different power engines in tr6's. The CR version at125bhp and the CP version at150bhp. Its been suggested to me that the cam from the lower powered CR engine will work in a 2 litre engine and do what im asking.

Has anyone fitted a tr6 camshaft to a 2 litre? If someone has what was the results?

I can get my engine number if needed.

    Thanks in advance.

If you buy new make sure its from a new blank and not reprofiled, I have had 2 Kents go soft after 10 to 15000 miles. I now buy Newmans and cant fault them.

Our tremendous effort for the Guide Dogs charity on the 2016 RBRR was sufficient to fund the training programmes for two puppies, for which we were invited to choose names. The Committee settled on 'Derek', in memory of Derek Pollock, our much missed late President and initial inspiration behind the event, and 'Triumph'. I am delighted to say that Triumph, a Golden Retriever bitch, was born on 28th October 2020 and Derek, a Black Labrador, on 7th December 2020. Both went from the Guide Dog Breeding Centre to their puppy walkers a while ago and are making excellent progress, being socialised and progressively meeting more and more challenges. The parentage of both puppies involve many generations of guide dogs, and there is every reason to expect that both Derek and Triumph will eventually become life changers for their eventual owners. It has certainly taken some time to bring this to fruition but we are delighted with the final result.

Our contact at Guide Dogs very kindly provided the attached photo montage showing how 'our' puppies have progressed.

Anyone have any good recommendations for a supplier of a reconditioned 1500 engine for a Spitfire? Mine became a bit poorly on the RBRR. My current engine will probably not be fit to be reconditioned.

I have a good 1500  engine out of a Midget, very sound had it in my Spitfire while rebuilding my own engine, doesn't use oil water etc. I am near Lincoln
