Good to hear you got it sorted. Did you buy a new one? I gather Bosch are good ones 😱

Hi Bosch are the best!! Not got a new one yet I think I have the wrong battery which is rated 35ah and need to replace it within 65ah which should not give any future problems.

  3. I parked my Spitfire Mk 3 at the end of last summer and it was working fine. Since then, I have been trying to start the engine but no luck. I have check fuel, points which appeared to be fine but the spark seems weak.

I checked the distributor and found that the rotor arm appears to have moved to in-between the terminal but not sure how it could happen.

Does anyone have a clue how it could have happened??

  4. Hi

I bought new syncro and bearing for my gear box from Rimmer Brothers but not sure is the syncros are correct as it now crunches in third gear only. Both 2nd and 4th are fine.

Has anyone else had a similar problem?

I think I should check the tolerances.

Does anyone have factory tolerances/settings for 3 rail gearbox or pages from full manual?

  5. Hi

Has anyone had difficulties in setting camshaft timing on Mk 3 1300cc engine without timing marks on cam or crank gears?

I took my engine apart to overall the unit but failed to notice that both camshaft and crankshaft timing marks were missing on both gears. However, according to the manual the inlet valve on piston 1 should starts to open 25 degree BTDC and I have set the time to this setting. Now the engine starts but the ignition time is miles out and the engine is hunting and lacks power.

Does anyone know if I have done the right thing or is there a better way?

    Thanks

    Bosch

  6. I feel I need to fit more confortable seats to my Mk3, does anyone have any experience using other make and model as donor vehicle that fit?

I also have problem in getting the seat runners to work - is there a  cure?
