  1. Hello

You set up does not seem correct, there should be a pipe between the carbs which from memory crosses above the linkage. I think the metal pipe is fitted the wrong way round. Sorry my GT6 is in he garage and I can't readily get I out to check. But I feel the metal pipe is incorrectly fitted. Are the carbs the same as I think hey should be a paired.

Ps if I get chance will check, but have you googled picture of GT 6  delco carbs which you have.

  2. Update, I did have to remove a couple of mm from each screw however all fitted and no leaks. Bad news this has now lead to new jets and needle to get the carbs tuned correctly.

I have access to a good mobile tuner in the Nottingham area (been using him for a number of years now), possible last of the few as people now plug computers into cars.

Any interest in having your car tuned at home PM me.

  3. Last night went to fit bases TO 150CD however was not able due to the screw that are required, the current screws are either too long or the short one just grip the threads. I felt this was not quite right. Today went to engineering suppliers and got the following 8-32x11/4 UNC cap heads to do the job. All the screws required on these bases are the same length.
I hope this helps anyone else considering this job.

  4. 1968Vitesse25, You should.

Had the GT6 booked in for an MOT on Saturday, took it out of the garage on Friday night for a final check. Petrol poured out of the front carb. Stripped the carb down to check the needle valve, still no joy. So cancelled MOT. Saw this thread on Saturday night and brought two on Sunday after it was confirmed that they would fit CD150s.

So to all thank you for the lead.

    Hopefully MOT next Saturday.

  5. There is a flat spring c clip that a split pin is inserted into, this clip has a habit of sliding down the split pin and can cause the handle not to work. Slid the c clip up the up the pin. I normally us the insert of a electrical connector block on the pin to hold the clip in place.

  7. Thank you all who replied, ended up with polybrushes from Rimmer who I was attempting to avoid. Went with polybushes as I have a kit of them. Told not to mix them up ie different types on each side so decided to keep same brand all round. This from another supplier.

  8. Hello, can anyone help with information? Number of years ago I purchased some polybushes which were well priced compared to the normal sources. They had been recommended by various people here and other sites. I do not have the suppliers details any more does anyone have a recommended source other than the standard triumph ones?
    Thanks

  9. I place two rods passing through the engine plate and the bell housing top bolt holes, then you ensure the plate and bell housing are parallel top to bottom and each side. Generally the rear of the engine needs to be lifted  some height to align parts.

  10. Hello John, Thanks for your reply. I thought I would have join them togethef however I was hoping someone would explain whether I needed to separate the deaths from the h headlights across the other three main earths or simple have them connected into a single or two main harness deaths. Also I was interested in understanding why one of the main earths had a white collar marker sleeve. Anyway joined the two lamp earths into a single main earth. I now have problems with the horn being continuously live, assume a short even when the steering wheel press button is removed.

  11. Hello, I have finally got round to wiring up the headlights on my 72 GT 6, I am confused and have forgotten how they go. The main coloured wires are ok, however I have a number of black earths wires on the main loop, one with a white narrow sleeve, then I have the two black on the lamps themselves. So my question is how do these earths go together I believe I have 3 in the main loom and then 2 from the lamps.

  12. Glad you sorted it out sometimes it can be the simplest thing, I am having a similar battle with my Spitfire, after replacing all the seals still not working. Now replaced the slave and master. Hopefully cured. Now turning my attention to getting a GT6 running, finally got the thing to turn over.

    ALL GOOD THINGS

    Cheers

  13. It does not matter from an operational point of view which way round the nipple and pipe go. The only reason for having the nipple on top is to remove all the air. If the pedal does not move you may have other problems, has the car been laid up and the clutch stuck.I assume that the master is pushing fluid through? Before putting the slave back in did you check the piston slide in the cylinder, sorry for sounding as if it stupid but it could be jammed?

  14. I always found when you spend a lot of time in the car aligning the gearbox however if you look at the engine back plate and bell housing, get this parallel, things fit well.Hence the long bolt approach. You always need to Jack up the rear of the engine.
