  1. Are you going to use an isolation on the underside of the tunnel?

I would imagine the sound and heat would became a problem, the original one i had without the camping isolation bags on the underside was hot and noisy. i used a polyethylene cover and covered the whole underside with anti drumming plate. This helps heat and sound!

  2. Hmm, no good sign..

Had the same problem. When you are lucky the shafts them self are damaged, but i think the body it self has worn out. Theres not much to do about it.. resleeving is quite difficult but can be done.

This Will suck false air into the mixture..

I was able to find a set better ones, without the emission control junk.

Yes I have been told the gater was in black , but the red herring car a white prototype that all the pictures were taken of, had extra bits and different bits that never made it to production. Also the interior trim we have is actually Midnight blue not Shadow blue, as Shadow blue was Mk III. All references you find state 27 as Shadow blue and everyone assumes it is because it is a light blue.

in the factory communication is also called shadow blue isn't it ? i bought a kit from newton commercials, they didnt have the blue option available at that time, but they used the midnight blue material.
I have some original material, the colors look very much alike, the original is a bit more greyish, but that could be just fading from the years.

    Thanks Ian.

    Edwin,
A body color O crap bar?  That's cool. Do you have a very early Mk1? Mine is #1293, factory royal blue also, but the bar is black-at least I think it is. Now I need to go look very close at it.

No, its actually a late one, #11546. its not painted. when i replaced my dash i made a little cut on the back of the bar (at the mounts) but its full color plastic-ish.

i havent seen it before on other cars, so curious if there are more royal blue gt' with a colored bar..

Looks like the gear stick gater would also be blue if you had that trim ?? didn't realize that.

Its not, Its just black. Theres a blue Shine of the Seats.

However theres a roadtest with a white gt6 in front of a mountain covered in snow, with a colored radio h-frame. Pictures are black and white, but definately a colored interior.

My GT is factory royal blue with shadow blue interior, the oh-sh*t-bar is dark blue!
Others i've seen are plain black.

  6. originally the top piece would be black plastic mould as the continuation of the black dashpad, between the plastic mould and the card would be a chrome strip, very slim but just enough to see it. you could use an aluminium strip. with a little bend at one side and polish it like chrome.
This way the chrome strip from the dash itself continues in the door. Need looking !

I look forward to seeing the TR2 Edwin, all being well, we don't have too many concours cars in Club Triumph. It's good to have excellent headlights of course but you shouldn't need them on this 10CR, which will involve a hotel every night and no night driving - at least that's the basis on which I sold it to the wife!  Incidentally it's good to see that you are not a slave to originallty but prepared to modify the TR2 for safety.

This puts me in mind of the 1974 RBRR when the late Paul Howell - later to be owner(custodian) of OVC 276 for a time - followed me through the night from Inverness to John o' Groats in his lovely early long door TR2. It wasn't a problem since he kept a safe distance at all times and over breakfast he told me he had chosen to follow since his original 'tripod' headlights were pretty useless. I asked why he had not fitted a pair of decent halogen conversions just for the event but he told me that would not have been original! I reckon one's neck is more important.

    Tim

I do like detailing as much as fits in originality / safety.
Fitting extra lamps would be done just for this trip and removing it later.
i have found a set of headlamps which were original factory for cars in the netherlands with classic BPF bulbs, but for our trips abroad i replaced them with halogen Bulbs with BPF fitting, so, original with a touch of safety

Further i fitted a high torque starter, elec ignition in the original housing, a dynamator powerunit, because i like to get home

    I posted it before : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKOxHcc32r0

And with this one, dont forget to use your mouse/pointer to move the 360 viewing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbAKTaPxTLw

  8. The TR2 will be main vehicle, the Gt6 mk1 as a backup.
Both will have a regular checkup with the fluids, bearings, brakes, ignition.

Will try to fit a spot lamp bar on the tr2 to have some extra light at night and perhaps replace my orignal wire wheel hubs with steel wheel hubs and steel wheels.

Rest of the preps will be garnering a continental touring kit with a minimum set of tools.
