  2. Mike,

    10CR is not a RBRR!

I have noticed this year that quite a few took the easy option, lunch breaks, tea stop, sweets and icecream in the afternoon.... not longer the hardcore group driving through the night to wet their speedo,s in the med the next morning, so why not,

You dont have to go for the full monty but can pick those parts you really enjoy driving, skip the others.

In fact I slightly noticed that you started down that slope, having the roof up on a nice and sunny day!😉

Not that Shaun and I are there yet, all the passes, roof down, scaring pushbike terrorists with a double declutch and throttle blip when we passed them on the Stelvio.

Now not sure if we'll still do so in a few years time, maybe shaun has to find another play buddy then, he is a youngster at half a century while i have fully upgraded to version 6.2 but while it lasts he... Get your entry in, take it as it comes, and if you had enough stop at the Gellateria and a straight route to the hotel after. You still have all the scenery and the banter....

and that´s the last I´m hearing from it!

  3. Having just uploaded the files into Routeyou.com so i could edit the start and end points with our hotels and "translate" the gpx files for OSMAnd I have noticed that some, not all, roundabouts were taken the wrong (you're in europe after all) way round. Not sure how this affects your Satnav but he could be saying take the 3rd exit when he means the first one....

  4. if you have an android device, prefarably a Tablet you can use OsmAnd, free or with a yearly suscription of IIRC around 5 EU, uses Openstreet maps and can display any GPX files.

Advantage, or disadvantage, depending on how you look at it is that you will have to download all the maps up front, and they are, if you go for the full fat ones, quite huge....

I am using that for all my drives.

You can plan on RouteYou, need an account though, again free, and once finished you export your route to any format you want, including garmin ones.

  6. there is always next run Tim, or maybe a shake down drive over the Alps he?

sure are going to miss the bustle and hustle at the start, magic moment that is and then the trek north when the sun sets and you realize that you're in for the first of your nights behind the wheel.

Took the Spit to the supermarket this afternoon, in the rain and pretended it was the real thing 😭😭

  7. I Know A,

we also prefer to come over with the tunnel. Although the Zeebrugge Hull has its advantages, you leave EU early evening, a relaxing meal and a good sleep and by 0800 you're in UK ready for the days drive. We do use it when going to the lakes, it is then only a day drive before you can enjoy the scenery, not that other parts are ugly, or not worth visiting, but you do have to make choices sometimes.

Looking at the meal and Hotel plus transport it almost become "cheap" especially if you hunt for deals. ours came at 180 euro without the food, so almost in the same league as hotel + tunnel.

but miss taking the overnight ferry from Hull to Zeebrugge. If things return to "normal" by late summer 2022 I think we'll be taking the Spitfire for a run down to Northern Italy and back.

Worth checking, but I believe the Zeebrugge Hull ferry has been shelved. We had booked and got our money back. You still can take the hoek of holland option, but that means longer EU driving....

and yes we also are playing the waiting game, but then to see if we can come over to UK....

For now only local drives I think.

  9. Hi Tim,

    congratulations!

I did not fare too well, but then have not be able to give it the time it deserved, you on the other hand did very well!

It was however a fun event and very well run. Could be used as an example if we will be deprived for much longer.

How the heck did you find out the answer as to which shop was at the entry of the city? I did try to read names with street view but never saw the answer!

Thanks for pointing it out, makes me want to visit the region again.

  10. Thanks Matt / Rob,

It is a bit difficult to hide your Email address when you are model consultant, or the club should make it a 2 tier process, send the questions to a box first and then forward to the consultant...

Not that there are that many questions coming... :(

mostly these spams are caught by Microsoft and neatly rerouted to the junk folder, but these slipped through the net.

Not a real problem for me as I am usually a suspicious person and will always hover over the links first to see if they are not blatantly rerouting you to somewhere else.

Most of those mails also offer you just enough info to make you think they are legit but nothing concrete that would give them away, as Rob said they have some headers "RBRR update" but nothing more : "Click here" which is not they way Tim usually waffles on about the event ;)

  11. Hi,

For the second time this week I get a mail re the RBRR with some link to click and wording such as "Read before Wednesday"

I would insert a screenshot if i could remember how to insert images :(

As there is no mention on the website of a "revised" RBRR it seems like spam/ Phishing to me or if it is not then very bad communication from CT.

    Anyone else had the same?

    Chuus!

  12. On the Roadster which are using similar there is a copper washer between the housing and head.

It is not replaceable in situ, you need to take the whole filter off, which you would normally do when changing oil or filters. So you earned yourself an intermediate oil change. :) It is fiddly to put back also, trying to get the housing to line up with the seal and holding the whole assembly while trying to start the bolt most often while laying on your back with a drizzle of old oil running in your sleeve....

As Rob says, a spin- on conversion does away with the hassle, and has a much better filtration to booth

  13. Alternatively a 123Ignition will fit also.

Mine was running on an accuspark but bad luck, jinxed, something else wrong, I dont now.... after 2 failures (one was brand new out of the box) we put the old delco in again and now it is running fine.

You can have an accuspark either as a module to swap and insert instead of the old points or as a complete unit.

If the car is still on positive earth then accuspark will do a special module. As these need to be insultated from the normal earthing circuit it can be a bit problematic.

Funds after the engine rebuild permitting i'll put mine on a 123Ignition.
