  1. In August (19th - 21st) I'm hoping to join the company behind Bangers & Cash to do some filming of my nearly finished Spitfire Rally Car for a program they hope to broadcast. My problem is I'm from Cumbria & filming will be in Enfield, London and I'll be without the use of car for the duration.
Can any here recommend any affordable hotels, B&B.s or AirBnB or house sit possibilities that might be local or have convenient Public Transport access to an EN3 post code.

    Thanks

    Nuala

    Hi All

I am delighted to announce that entry to the C2C22 is now open.

I apologise for the delay in opening the event. Club Triumph will be unveiling our approach to Carbon Neutralisation in the March edition of Club Torque. This scheme has had to be developed ahead of the C2C22 in order to include it in the C2C22.  I am the Lead Organiser for both activities and have consequently been a bit busy.

To enter either go to the Club Shop and you'll find the Coast 2 Coast Store, or go to Events >> C2C22 >> How to Enter.  That will take you to the Shop.  I hope you will find it has been worth the wait.

Website shop page doesn't seem to have been updated! - Anyway it's 09:20 on Saturday 19th ... & I'm trying to enter!!

Be good to know if delay is to be minutes, hours or days...
Maybe make an announcement that entry will open: Give Time & Date ?

  4. As you say, people want to see something tangible and want to salve their conscience. But the Club has neither the time nor resources to administer a separate scheme so it seems clear that along with raising money for the nominated charity we should consider also partnering with a national conservation charity.
We are a national club, with events that cover much of the country ( so as much as I'd love to see us rewild part of the former Canley site ) I think perhaps supporting The National Forest or Woodland Trust would come close to meeting members expectations. 2000 trees for 2000 miles!

I disagree with you that it can be achieved without increasing the cost or impacting the charitable donations ... ultimately it is the event participants that create the environmental impact.... "The user pays" ... at whatever the calculated rate of offset is deemed appropriate I believe the entrants to events should be the ones that pay & not the general membership. Are our numbers sufficient to make One Tree / One Event Mile an achievable goal?? ... the funding of such to be paid to The Woodland Trust to plant within The National Forest ??

  5. Does anyone have a surplus threaded bar or extra long bolt ( with nuts ) ( now now keep it clean ) that I could buy / acquire..... I'm trying to find a way to press out the  bushes from a couple of diffs I hope to have redone.

That actual Herald is still alive and lives at a certain Triumph collector who sells parts near Coventry. Sadly, the car does not have its number plate as Mr Lewis moved that onto cars, presumably as he bought and sold.

Would you care to suggest that "the certain Triumph collector who sells parts near Coventry" ... considers getting his fat or slim arse down to Monte Carlo! See below 1960 RMC ... Herald Coupe834511999_TL5RMC.jpg.a011cfc08cf142a862b5d70aeb63dd8f.jpg

  7. Participants in The Monte Carlo Rally in 1959 at Ye Olde Bell in Retford.

Whose was this Triumph Herald on the 1961 Monte Carlo Rally? Monte Classique & Monte Heritage runs due to visit the same venue ( Ye Olde Bell - Barnby Moor ) again in 2022. Are there are intrepid Herald drivers brave enough to take on the challenge?
High Lights of UK leg include alternative starts at either Blythswood Square, Glasgow, or Woodcote Park, London ( Respective RAC Headquarters ) with a reception for the northern starters at Banbury enroute south.
Monte roads down through France to join other cars starting their journey to Monaco from Valence & a full day following in the tyre tracks of the Historique Rally cars on several stages. Finishing of course in the warmth of the Cote d' Azure. .... Go on - you know you want to!

  8. Picking up a project I started in Lock Down One .... planning a slow route ( None Motorway ) from The Lizard to Dunnet Head ... I'm still trying to finesse the bits that wriggle between the conurbations.
Are there any Midlands based members able to plan a nice route from Henley in Arden to Fillongley? suggested routes via .gpx file much appreciated. My faith in Tomtom is not what it used to be - those with local knowledge often choose other routes.

  9. Are there any CT Road Rally navigators out there.

I've an entry on this years Tour of Cheshire but my usual navigator is unavailable. The event is a round of HRCR Clubmans Championship and any willing navigator will need a MSUK Competition Licence & need experience of plot & bash and regularity timing. Don't worry if you're a novice or a bit rusty - I'm happy to have a run out - we don't need to be super competitive .... but you do need to know what you are doing as it isn't the best event on which to learn new skills. I hope to be using my GT6 MKII

A GT6 would originally have had a Delco unit. If it's any good to you, I have a spare six cylinder Delco with a tacho take-off but it's not a Triumph one (I've no idea what it's off) and has an unusual vacuum capsule.

Thanks for replies so far - I'm actually trying to create a Lucas Dizzy for my MKII Spitfire - but it needs a mechanical tacho take off. Distributor Doctor tells me he can adapt certain 22D6 ( 6 cylinder dizzys ) to a 4 cylinder model.

Delco's have a poor reputation for reliability at high revs & Lucas seem to be more serviceable in the long run.

Thanks for the offer's of Delco units but it's modifiable Lucas units I need.

  11. Have you swapped your original 6 cylinder dizzy for a new electronic one? Do you have the old dizzy from your GT6 / Vitesse / TR6 sitting in your spares or autojumble box. It doesn't need to be pretty as long as it's complete with mechanical tacho take off & Vacuum Advance. Willing to pay for any serviceable unit. Please get in touch. Greta.

    ...I have a set of five 5" Spitfire/Dolomite wheels for sale - they're not advertised as yet.....& they will most definitely need a refurbishment...(Just a thought! 🙂)

Hi Thanks - They'll be the later oval hole type - still very desirable - but not ( I don't think ) what I was after... thanks for the thought.

  13. I need to edit my entry! My co-driver has advised that their health isn't up to it - thankfully Richard Smith has agreed to join me but would prefer to use his Stag ( which already knows the way!) .

Hopefully I'll still be up for it in two years time and fulfil my ambition of doing RBRR in my GT6.

Please advise how I can edit my entry.

  14. Head Banging ... but kindda captures the early heady mix of manic excitement & trepidation ... certainly the event does seem to pass in a flip-book surreal flash dance... crazily captured in the above time lapse.. I particularly like the half-hearted snatched cat-naps before the real 60 minute " Where did the last hour / 50 miles go !"...coma kicks in.

  15. I’m reassured that in a Stag one can take a less hurried approach... just waft along on an endless wave of torque ...

... so comfortable are Stags - you can catch them knapping - I recall monstering one 3 years ago on the A9 climb beyond Helmsdale.

he was happy enough as we slithered around Bill Gwynne’s rally track last year.
