On this years Coast to Coast event we averaged 33mpg in our Stag over the 870 miles. Obviously the Mpg was much better on the M56, M60, M62 sections getting from Cheshire to the start at Flamborough Head and then back home again than what we got on the roads over the Yorkshire Moors and Cumbrian Fells.

Based on that route mix I am hoping for 35mpg overall on the RBRR.

I take it you will pushing the car part way Bruce :)

The Vitesse is all prepped, polished and ready to go. All needed to to do is work out how to attach the rally plates. So I experimenting 2 hours ago with a old rally plate trying to tease a cable tie out from just in front of the radiator and the next thing I know is I have coolant pouring out of the front of the radiator. Panic stations and a lot of swearing at my stupidity the wife comes running to see what has gone wrong expecting to see me squashed under the car. Luckily I have a spare radiator but its completely untested and in an unknow condition.  1 1/2  hours later the spare radiator has been flushed and fitted  and a test drive even getting stuck in a traffic jam for 10 minuets after a fast run it is cooling perfectly. But it does seem to have a tiny weep in the middle the question is Radweld or go with it as it is. Panic over.

i'll manage with english Hayne's , already have 2 (Audi B2 ans VW Scirocco) , some cheap on eBay, but since brexit we have horrible tax fees 😒

Yep i found imperial tool , but i really don't know which are most important (size and type). i'd like advice on that point 😇

Welcome to the forum. Don't forget a good selection of hammers. (metric or imperial) You can manage with metric spanners on most things if they are in good condition.

No, not true in any way. Sadly, though, the "St George's Cross" flag has been hijacked by some seriously racist (or at least highly xenophobic) groups and these days is rarely used by anyone else except football thugs fans. Which is ironic as St George was Turkish.

I guess you are right Rob, just a great shame though. Scots are allowed as well as the Welsh and a lot of them hate the English :) :)

    Hi

I'll be ordering one of those😉

I do have a question relating to the logo. I understand the principle that the logo consists of two flags because the run crosses from England into Scotland and then back into England. So I see why the Scottish flag is used, but why is the Union Jack (the UK flag) used rather than the English flag (cross of St George)? If the Union Jack is used then the Scottish flag should be removed as the Union Jack covers both sides of the border as both nations form part of the UK.

Please note it is not my intention to start a political debate!

    Regards

Apparently it is "racist" to mention anything English Bruce..... :)

I'm quite sure the UJ is OK. I'll do more diagnosis on Saturday but I believe it's play centrally without moving the tie rods

It can Tim, Kev had it on his GT6.

  8. Make sure you haven't over tightened the first nut. There should be an insulated washer then a nut then the lead then the outer nut. The inner one is touching earth. It does happen a lot.

Thanks, a "problem" rather than "problems".  Ltd time, so has been taken up with gearbox rebuild, quite a few other repairs and ongoing maintenance.

At a stage with a bit more free time now.

    Cheers, Dave

I meant problems with the same thing Dave, i would be thinking "it's out to get me " :-)   Hope you get it sorted.

  10. Just seen that Glang sorry, but eight years of problems i would have sold the car by now, or at the very least just fitted an alternator as it can easily be put back to standard should anyone want to.

    Hi All

The entry number now stands at 27, so just over half full. Given that we have all been cooped up for the past year I am surprised at the slow take up rate. I expected everyone to be gagging to get out and about and mix with fellow enthusiasts on an event like this.

    Bruce

They have all heard you are going Bruce :)
