    Make sure you haven't over tightened the first nut. There should be an insulated washer then a nut then the lead then the outer nut. The inner one is touching earth. It does happen a lot. Tony.

    Just seen that Glang sorry, but eight years of problems i would have sold the car by now, or at the very least just fitted an alternator as it can easily be put back to standard should anyone want to. Tony.
