  4. that looks good to me, i would have fitted it the way it is shown in fig 4. tony.
  5. they  used to be available, i used them many times to join pipes that had to be routed around subframes and such to save time if the pipes were ok. if you have an old school garage near you they might have them? if not just have a  short new pipe made with female fittings
  6. nice to have an easy job for a change cheers, tony.
  7. to check gauge, put sensor wire to an earth, if temp gauge goes to hot? gauge is fine if gauge is ok? then its temp sensor cheers,
  8. hi spider, i would say "go for it" around my way (north shropshire) there is a great demand for agricultural electricians. as i was in the motor trade (before ill health bit me) i am always getting asked if i know anyone good with electrics? not so much though on classic cars my 1st rule of going it alone, is dont get into "debt" many people do and fall down. it worked for me so best of luck. regards, tony.
  9. before buying a new one? have you tried cleaning the old one? including the terminals? they can get full of clutch dust and cause this problem. just use brake cleaner and when all is spotless use wd40 or like and then wipe any residue off as it will attract more dust. i think you will find it will cure it tony.
  10. check out the old "smiley face" ford transit diesel engine mounts, they sound similar.
  11. hi dominic, if you pm me your email address i will attach what you need i am terrible at computers cheers, tony.
  12. hi dominic, have you thought that the barrel and keys could be worn? paddocks have got dolomite ones @ £15. it sounds like it could be your problem and not the lock itself plus its very easy to change cheers, tony.
  13. hi dominic, just been out to my dolly 1 key in  turn to start position. 2 start car. 3 turn key off. engine stops. 4 turn back 1 click it goes to aux position, ie can use radio. 5 turn back another click, radio goes off, but unable to remove key and steering does not engage. 6 push key in and it will then turn back again and then you can remove key, as the key comes out you hear the lock hit the column, move steering wheel then lock engages in column slot hope this helps? let me know. regards, tony
  14. i have in the past when the thread has gone in the dizzy, just used a self tapper not right i know, but just as good. cheers tony.
  15. if you check out some episodes of car "sos" fuzz put one on a clutch for a disabled guy me, i just bought an automatic getting old
  16. did you oil the shaft or bendix? if so it will be clogged up with clutch dust. strip it down and clean with brake cleaner and do not lubricate. it should be fine then
  17. another way of doing this, is to take the clips off the rivet and use self tappers this way you can tighten as much is needed, and yes it is a good idea to use waxoil, or what i did was use frame sealant which does not go hard and can be removed if needed.
  18. a friend of mine refuses to use anything else but pledge he swears by it and uses it on his modern car as well i have got say they all shine well, plus it brings up tyres well
  19. hi dave, it should just stop. unless someone has forced it in the past? but if it does fall off its easy to put back together. cheers,  tony.
  20. good news, at least it was the cheaper item.
  21. hi paul, use a volt meter on  the terminals on the dynamo, it should read about 14volts. on tickover. if it does? do the same at the battery it should read the same. if not would suspect the trouble lies with your voltage regulator. you can try cleaning the points if you can get inside it. if not just fit a new one. cheers, tony.
