  1. Is the electronic ignition just a module in orginal dizzy or complete dizzy?
If complete dizzy that could be the problem if curves etc are wrong for that engine.
I have an mgbgt with replacement dizzy and that causes some weird running issues but on that only at higher revs so not a major problem

  2. Years ago had a mk3 gt6 with rotoflex, also an early 1600 vitesse convertible, had a set of cosmics on the vitesse and slots on gt6. Did try to put the cosmics on the gt6 once, but wouldn’t fit on rears as touched the trailing arms. Don’t know what the offset on that set of wheels was and have put cosmics on another gt6 since then without a problem

  3. I've had green stuff pads on my mgbgt auto with grooved discs for last 8 years, only thing I've really noticed is that if you do a lot of gentle braking for a few weeks, they do lose some feel and stopping gets worse. All I do is take it for a B road blast with heavy braking and that brings them back up. The pads are getting low now so will try mintex pads next time

  4. My coupe is undergoing some serious welding at moment, so have been able to add a lot of extra steel and bracing to give a decent top mount for the seat belt. I'm not a fan of lap belts so wouldn't go that route myself but better than nothing

  5. Hi John
Thanks for info. Think you might be getting confused, not talking about a saloon but a coupe. The top of the B post is the corner of the tub not the little bit that holds the window in on a saloon. I can put extra strength in if needed as have to rebuild the B post at bottom anyhow

    Cheers Andy

  6. Looking for opinions on mounting of seat belts to an early Herald coupe. Being an early car doesn't have to have seatbelts fitted and previously they were bolted through the floor and rear inner wheel arch. Very much like a Herald convertible.
I'm thinking of fitting interia belts this time round, what is the opinion if the top of the B post is suitable as top mount? Also thinking about making some brackets to bolt the base at the bottom of the B post/rear seat panel, then the final fitting at usual Herald place at side of floor.
The middle mount, I'm thinking off bolting both sides to one mount at middle of tunnel.
I know about the need for spreader plate etc
What do people think? Or any better ideas
    Cheers Andy

  7. I would say heritage panels are better than steelcraft. Just fitted a pair of Herald doorskins and not a bad fit to be fair. They were the standard ones paddocks, Rimmers etc are selling.
Front floorpans, the chances of finding genuine nos ones is very unlikely, there tends to be two type available at moments, the ones with the flat edge where the gearbox tunnel fit and the ones without. I would go for the first type, more expensive but better.
If you are buying within next couple of weeks, Rimmers have a sale on at moment. Which makes them very competitive on price, if after that look elsewhere as most expensive

Dave, FFS,  get that engine bay painted the same colour as the rest of the car!

No one see that when the cars are being driven, waste of time and energy painting it the same colour

  9. I've just changed the latch on my convertible to spitfire ones to hopefully stop the door opening when cornering, once I get the car mot'ed will see if it works or not. Doors do shut easier with less slamming

    Cheers Andy

  11. If Rimmers won't sell you just the boss, ring up moto-lita and buy one direct from them.
Did that when got one for my mk1 as wanted a 16" wheel and all the usual suppliers only sold 15" ones
If not bothered about the boss going down to the cowl mk2 will also fit along with stag etc

    Cheers Andy

I know Andy but, MK3 was originally stated but no one has said anything about Delco
Mine fell to pieces and I converted to a 25D and removed cable drive and converted a Smiths rev counter using a Jaeger face which all the conversions are in a mag article a while back
Removing cable drive also allows blocking up a heater box hole which now is an additional benefit.....my car gets hotter .....all through converting to electronic ignition

    Mike
That was my point. The original poster might not know if his dizzy is a delco or a Lucas and then get links info to Lucas dizzy. Not everybody knows the difference. As an example a mate of mine knows nothing about his car apart from how to drive it. If this was his posting he would see what had been said and more than likely brought the wrong item because of it.
Not saying anything about what you posted, just happened to be after your post. Yes 1500 Rev counter internals put into mk3 spit case and face

    Cheers Andy

Nope...converted it all after teh Delco fell to bits

But the original post is about a mk3 spitfire dizzy which should be delco and everybody is giving links and recommending thinks that are later spitfire which are Lucas.
Have swapped to a 123 dizzy on mine but lose rev counter. Before get people saying how to get rev counter back working. Done that already
