hi all
its been a long time on here......
got a overdrive gearbox and it pointing me to 2000 but which one?
gearbox code is MB144835 but it has J-type overdrive unit on it
any pointers in the right direction

you are spot on,,DH are dolomite engine code

not sure if there a slight tapering of the pin,,does one end of pin look bigger then the other side,but yeah replace pin for split pin

think it comes down to over-tightening! hand tight does the job not brute force.......i use pin hammer to flattened my sump holes

it would certainly put me right off getting one,if i was a new comer.......in other words get one with good body everything is re-placeable thru parts dealers

i got mix and match of polybushes,cheap set of ebay to get the car up and running,but slowly going thru and replacing with witor stuff(superflex) as and when i need to change....complete set of witor for dolly are expensive in one joblot,,but depends on pocket size

have you re-tightened the head since running in

what does help the bottom ends is pre-oil pressure the engine before its run,,just take coil +feed off and turn over til light go`s out or pressure built by gauge

ive used the horseshoe type for many year,never failed,used with extra bar,but this was bought in the mid 90`s so good quality from sealey.just go`s to show the quality of certain tools and parts have gone down-hill since chineses and other copy`s have flooded the market
