  1. It's in way better condition than my BRG car, so selling that and will end up completely rebuilding it back it cactus green / matador red.

The interior of your car inspired me, it just looks so good. I am now looking for seats :)

My Vitesse has bolts holding the lower valance to the front of the chassis—two on each side, between the overriders and the ARB mounting point. Would a bracket that mounts there work for you? I'd image the lamps would be pretty low down though, perhaps only at number plate height. Is that OK, or do you want them above the bumper? If above the bumper, then don't forget to allow sufficient clearance for the bonnet to swing up :)

Peter, good point I hadn't thought of using those. I'll make some 39FB's and give those a go as well, cheers.

found this in an old lucas manual, hope it is readable  :o

    Fantastic! many thanks.

Bracket 39FB. Looks like it sandwiches the grille with the lower turn down resting on the upper face of the panel that runs under the grille.

Has any one seen these in use? or know of the finish? I am guessing a hammerite gunmetal?

  6. I have a great set of Lucas driving lights that I want to mount on the Vitesse; but where? They are bottom mount so can't readily be mounted either side of the number plate, and the strip below the grille on the bonnet doesn't seem substantial enough to take any weight without twisting.

    Ideas, solutions gratefully received

  8. You can try a micromanometer, like a Testo pocket series.

I use a Airflow Developments PVM100 from work,, and hold the tube the same depth and place on each carb. Last time I had 23Pa in each.

A low range Dwyer Magnehelic gauge can also be used.

My alloy water pump housing from Canleys had two threaded apertures; it's strange that while one took the original sender unit (which I presume is imperial) the other took a modern electric fan sensor with no trouble whatsoever... and I presume it's metric. No forcing or other interference, so I assume both threads must be so close they make no difference in so short a length.

Awesome thread, going through this now with my Vitesse. Good useful stuff.

I found a Tridon sender TF111 (http://www.tridon.com.au/Products/Product.aspx?SG=8&S=35&G=483&P=2014) that looks like it will do the same job.

12 months ago the VL's were priced at 175 pounds....each..! , now priced at a more reasonable 89 pounds, include a new trunnion at 18 pounds makes for 107 x2 so 214 pounds to do both sides or 329 pounds for the trunnionless kit (which is currently unavailable)
    (prices from canleys)

Like Clive says, the original VL's / trunnions have lasted decades, and were fitted to the Grand Prix racing cars so some new ones will be fine if you chose to go that way  ;)

I priced it up today. Total cost just to do trunnions, VL's, poly bushes, replace all the bolts and do the anti-roll bar at the same time is 308.13. To do the same and swap out to trunnionless set up is 417.19. Having had a look at the trunnions, one is greased and the other one dry, I am going to go the whole hog save up and rebuild using the Canley setup. Hopefully this will be about the same time as Canley's have another batch available.
