    David, I might pay you a visit to get my new tube fitted and wheel balanced. Not round the corner but not that far and a good excuse for a drive out  :)

Thanks, that's what I thought.  One of the p/w's is the positive feed from the fuse box and the other goes off to be the positive feed for the passenger door switch?  Can't work out why there are two black wires for the return to earth though?  Oh well, I'll connect it all up and see, what's the worst that can happen  :P


    Does anyone know, where is the tailgate switch out of interest?  Presumably hidden behid the plastic cover that goes over the hinges?

  4. When I bought the car it didn't have the master switch on the dash for the interior light.

    I managed to pick one up on ebay and now want to get the interior light working, as currently it doesn't at all.

    Does anyone know what wires go to the back of this switch?  From poking around behind the dash there is one spade connector with two black wires connected to it.  One purple/white with a spade connector and one purble/white that has no connector.

    I thought that the spade connector with the two black wires probably goes to one side of the switch (return to earth).  The lose purple/white wire has just broken away from the other P/W and both were originally in the other spade connector and went to the other side of the switch?  

    Am I right....?

  5. Sounds like that's my plan then, be useful to have a socket for satnav, phone charger and other such period '60's accessories  ;)

    (RedRooster - I will disconnect the battery if left for any real length of time but useful not to have to and still be confident of enough cranking power)

My car spends a fair bit of time plugged into an accumate as it often sits for a couple of weeks without use.  Rather than having to keep lifting the bonnet to attach the crocodile clips to the battery, I want to wire a permanent solution into the cabin so I can pull in to the garage and just plug it in.  

    It occurred to me at the same time that it would be useful to have a cigarette lighter socket for running a satnav.  If I run a wire direct from the positive terminal of the battery (with an in-line fuse) to a cigarette lighter socket.  Presumably there is nothing to stop me using this in reverse, i.e. putting an accessary plug on my accumate and just shoving this into the socket when not in use?

  7. Your Vitesse looks beautiful Gary! I had a thick leather Motolita wheel on my MGB (apologies for swearing).  Agree that it was a lovely wheel and very comfortable but my GT6 is a weekend toy for heading to the pub and back.  I've just come out of an Elise and I'm having a break from the track day world.  The original wheels look gorgeous and, for the amount of miles and type of driving I'm doing at the moment, I'm not too concerned about the comfort factor. Anyone else with an original wheel lurking at the back of their wardrobe please drop me a pm :)

    Have pulled it apart and the bore does look a little corroded so I think replace is the way forward. It's a 1" bore so have just ordered a new one, along with some other bits... well while they're posting stuff to me anyway it would be rude not too  :)

  9. Hi all,
    Went to the car today and soft clutch pedal and a big pool of fluid on the garage floor. It's the slave that's given up the ghost. I've got the gearbox cover off and wondering whether to replace or rebuild. Rebuild with new seals looks fairly straightforward but two questions...

    1 - Any particular  issues or tips going down the rebuild route?
    2 - Is there an easy way to identify if the slave is 1" or 7/8"? Paddocks list seal kits for both.
