can see if the one on my parts car is good and cut off, sure i have some support stays
I don't think anything being discussed should need any cutting off - just a few bolts undone. The frame is held by the four bolts through the rear of the boot lid and the four that attach the hinges. The support bracket is held by two of the four bolts at the back.
was thinking of the bit that fits to the inner wing , do know the part that connects to the boot brace is bolted may have one if required

Just to add to glang's fine reply, the bracket that breaks could be fabricated moderately easily if you're not too fussed about the exact appearance. Alternatively, with a bit of ingenuity, it would be possible to convert to gas struts by adding the necessary brackets for the ball joints. Some measurement and calculation would be needed.
Either way, you will definitely need the internal frame that should be bolted to those holes.

Hi Phil
I was told by my hood fitter that this is not the time of year to fit hoods. You need nice hot summer days.
I paid just over £100 + vat to have mine fitted by an David Aspinall At Anglian Triumph services. He has had a lot of experience fitting Vitesse hoods, I think was very good value for money and he took all the risks of cutting and gluing it.
I am really please with the result. He even supplied the hood and seals from Don Hoods and I didn't have to pay the carriage on the hood so that was another £20 saved.

I'm not sure that's true for the 1600 as it's a steel shim gasket rather than the later composite type.
correct steel. do i seal or not workshop manual states you do my feeling is no paul.

need to replace the head gasket on my 1600 vitesse ,workshop manual states apply a suitable sealant to top of block before fitting gasket thoughts please paul.

Are the suspension springs and brakes the same for a Herald (12/50?) as the 1600 Vitesse?
I thought at least the front springs would be different and that the brakes changed from type 12 to 14...
the front brakes are type 12 on the 1600 , front springs slightly uprated rear the same , have welded the bonnet and rad fittings on not .sure if the diff is the same though .
